Overpriced compared to the Cotswold De Verne, having travelled straight from the Cotswold branch to Halifax hall the difference between the luxury of the hotel was the difference between night and day.
The De Vere in the Cotswold is beautiful, luxurious, high service level, beautiful clean rooms with wonderful grounds.
The De Vere at Halifax Hall was no where near the same quality but charged over 50% more. The hotel reception was heavily toxic with perfume you could hardly breathe, had to open the main doors and stand outside whilst I was waiting for the receptionist to return.
The room was less quality than a premier inn and twice the price.
The bathroom in the deluxe suite had badly fitted waste fittings so you could see a hole all the way around the waste.
The shower fittings also were loose and again not correctly fitted so bacteria heaven.
£160 per night for this in my opinion is way over priced
Excellent mix of old house and modern hotel. Very clean and comfortable. Very efficient and friendly staff. Excellent breakfasts. Parking no problem. Goods garden surroundings, quiet area.
Very comfortable quiet hotel in the middle of the city in an old big house.
Unique.
Great full English breakfast but wait time was a bit slow. But it was free and delicious!
Great variety of foods for breakfast with good tea and coffee facilities in the room.
Hot powerful shower too.
Nice cozy hotel, but it was not convenient for my trip.
No lifts, so you have to carry your bag up the stairs. I had problems with my room door not opening and there was no cooked breakfast available when I stayed so the included breakfast was cereal/toast.
Clean, cute, but a little disappointing stay for me.
Helpful staff & good location. Quiet room which was on the small size, but I think the suites are not that much more & look a lot bigger. Near the botanical gardens & walkable into Sheffield (down hill, but I'd get a taxi back up hill) Free parking was good. Food was nice. Bar area was a bit dull.
