Not my cup of tea.
Some of my issues may be cultural so keep that in mind. Also, some may be due to local building codes but could be fixed. Here is the list of issues, 1) No lift. You have to drag your luggage up three flights and if the key does not work, you have to walk back down and back up, to get into your room. 2) The breakfast was not good. For some reason they cooked my poached egg in vinegar water. And the ham had vinegar on it. Is that some kind of local custom? 3) You only have a choice of a few dishes at breakfast and if you happen to want more it is an extra cost. 4) They say laundry available but they do not tell you that you have to go all the way around another building to get to the laundry in the basement of that building and then it is 4 pounds (about 4.50 usd) to wash a load of clothes. 5) I do not think there is air conditioning so you may want to check on that. Fortunately it was cool when I was there so that was not an issue but something you may want to watch. 6) Location. I think it is difficult to find, but in that area everything is difficult to find....for a tourist. I say skip Sheffield altogether. Matlock is much better for tourist. 7) They do not allow you to exit at the convenient places in the building. The easy exits are for fire exit and that may be some kind of local fire code but I think it is that they are too cheap to install a one way door.Or surveillance cameras.
Lovely hotel, friendly staff, good facilities and decent breakfast in the mornings. You want to see more visit my YouTube channel for a room tour..@dexstar_25
A great price for a lovely room and stay. The breakfast was the best hotel breakfast we’ve ever had and the toaster was actually efficient. We would recommend this hotel
Great location, excellent service and outstanding high quality food. Hotel was very good value for money but as its owned and run by the University, it still has an institutional feel about it. However, that doesn't detract from the room comfort, ambience and high service levels.
Great hotel. Friendly staff, with nice breakfast. For me the bed is a bit hard and also a pet hate is a fixed head shower. But otherwise rooms are excellent.
The hotel itself is a little tired in places but the staff more than make up for it with literally the best service I have had in a UK hotel in a very long time. The tea/coffee refill station is a nice touch too
Enjoyed evening meal with my daughter in the restaurant. I was freezing in my room and I was provided with a heater with a smile. Easy for access to University of Sheffield Halls of Residence for Endcliffe and Ranmoor. Parking is not easy.
An unfussy hotel but spotlessly clean and comfortable. Staff went over and above to accommodate our needs. The breakfast was delicious and beautifully presented. We come here every year to attend the Hallamshire hospital and wouldn’t stay anywhere else.
We were lucky enough to have a large room in the original building. The shower was amazing and the well stocked snack station on our floor was a real treat.
Lots of choice for breakfast and staff couldn’t have been more helpful. Good gluten free provision for coeliacs too.
