Character Victorian hotel in lovely, leafy part of Sheffield near Broomhill. Friendly staff, excellent cooked breakfast with additional buffet items on offer. Lots of stairs will prepare you for Sheffield's 7 hills! Interesting collection of satirical 18th century prints by Hogarth near breakfast room, including Gin Lane. Plus an old-fashioned penny farthing bicycle on display.
Pleasant staff and service but the hotel is showing its age. Rotting windows and grotty ceiling air vents, not helped by the tired paint job, rock hard bed and lumpy pillows. On a warm day it was stifling in the rooms with window restrictors that dont allow the window to open enough to let any breeze in and only a desk top fan to blow the warm air around the room.
I booked 3 rooms 2 were a good size but tiny bathroom and one small room. dated but comfy bed and pillows ( could have done with a spare though). Only real complaints in my room was that the curtains didn’t meet properly in the middle and the small shaft of light unfortunately fell directly across my face. My mum and dad in law booked separately and were in another part of the hotel. the ceiling sprung a leak right over my father in laws head at 4 am due to heavy rain. The hotel did give however give a partial refund. Good cooked breakfast.

Poor
No hot water at night or in the morning. Reported at night but as ready to go to bed didn’t want to be disturbed. Expected it to be on by morning but sadly still no hot water and not enough time to report as early start so cold shower.
Room absolutely tiny. Just enough room to walk around the bed and nothing else. You’d be unable to sit on the loo if you have broad shoulders as so small.
The stairs going to the top floor is not meeting the safety standard. The steps are extremely narrow and not lift to the top floor. It is not accessible to everyone.
Nice location, within walking distance to some lovely pubs and restaurants. Rooms are perfect and great value. There are plenty of stairs with it being several houses converted together, but this is mentioned in the listing. Staff are friendly and rooms clean and modern.
Very basic hotel with bare brick walls, single glazed dirty windows, and a cheap / well used mattress. Not particularly clean - hair on toilet seat, grimy windows. No air conditioning or fridge, and no plugs near the bed. Shower ran cold after 90 seconds. Also could hear in graphic detail everything the couple next door were up to. With parking charge my double room was almost as expensive as a town centre hotel, although nowhere near as well equipped.
