We booked a panoramic oceanview room and got a room that had a view of a dead tree and bushes and a patio with chairs and BBQ. We also choose to pay at hotel and they charged our card the day before arrival.

The property needs repair. No screens on the windows or the sliding door so we could t leave them open without bugs. The furniture needs to be updated, and the appliances. The Wifi went out, so we had no phone or TV. Usually not a problem but we had come off of a backpacking trip and just wanted to veg out. The upside is that the cafe downstairs is AMAZING! Not associated, but check it out if you are in the area.

There were no second locks on the door, and the slider door didn’t lock at all, safety concern. The property and view was beautiful! The room itself was clean and very nice! The coffee house below was phenomenal! The drive in and out will keep us away, sad but true. Also there was never a person in the office.

We stayed at the Oceanfront Inn at Shelter Cove for one night because we didn’t know what to expect. Now we need to comeback and stay a few more nights! What a gorgeous location and beautiful property! We loved it all! Your accommodations were great. They are not kidding by saying oceanfront… the waves were 30 feet from our balcony! We had a beautiful corner room with windows on 2 sides and enjoyed watching the sunset sitting on our balcony. We used the Keurig, microwave, refrigerator, and space heater and all worked out great. The bed was very comfortable and, specially after soaking in the hot tub in the room for a while, we slept like babies!! We didn’t use the restaurant this time, but will do next time we come back for more days! Thanks again for a wonderful stay!!

Shelter Cove ocean view room

Drive to shelter Cove was brutal. Location of hotel was good but the description of the room was inaccurate. Panoramic view was parking lot, front lawn and large pine tree. Ocean view was seen when standing in a certain spot in the room and observing a small wedge of ocean. The room was clean and comfortable but overall disappointing.

The champagne was actually sparkling cider not champagne, the balcony door had mould and didn’t open or close properly. One of the blinds didn’t close and when we turned the hot tub on a huge dust bunny flew out of one of the jets.

Great seaside hotel

We used this hotel for the starting and stoping point of our 26-mile hike on the Lost Coast. It was a wonderfully charming spot with amazing views. The rooms were lean and well supplied, and the process was managed very well. We also had breakfast at the cafe after our hike, and we loved the food, coffee, and the service. Highly recommend.

The hotel is a bit run down. Front door was half painted, lots of things are rusty and weathered, the slider is very difficult to operate. The bed is hard and old, the pillows are flat. The heater on the wall does not work so you get to use a small space heater. Redeeming qualities are the location, just leave the slider open and listen to the waves. Also, the jacuzzi tub is pretty awesome.
