We had high hopes for this hotel when we entered the reception/lobby area which was huge, really modern, air conned and had a small childrens play area in it. The excitement was short lived though the moment we stepped out of the lift on the 9th floor to what can only be described as a prison corridor which had an overwhelming musty smell, and was dark and gloomy. Our room for two adults and one child (9) was tiny. I knew it wouldn't be big when I booked it however it was even smaller in real life! To the point we couldn't even open our three cabin suitcases fully!! My daughter's bed had to be pulled out from underneath our double bed so once that was pulled out there was barely any floor space to move around at all. The sink is even in the room itself and not within the bathroom it's that tiny! This place would be fine for couples or those staying for a night or two but we wouldn't recommend for a family or for a longer stay. Based on the mixed reviews I think the hotel must be divided into a nicer more modern part which has nicer and bigger rooms, and a cheaper older part of the hotel. The main corridors desperately need new carpets and a brighter fresher looking paint on the walls- this would help make this floor look less prison-like.
Location wise its about a 5-10 minute walk to the nearest MRT station called Havelock. I recommend also going down to the riverside, lots of nice bars and eateries along there.
