The location is excellent, in the heart of bustling Chinatown. There is a MRT train station less than a block away for super easy access to all of Singapore. Staff are friendly and helpful. You are welcomed with a cold towel and water when arriving Property is boutique and cute. Many restaurants and coffee shop’s within walking distance. We had room 304, an Executive Room with balcony. Room size was on the small side, we still had room for our bags. There is a safe in the room. There was a good size balcony with table and 2 chairs. There were complimentary mini bar items. The shower was basic, with only a single handheld shower head. All other hotels on our trip had rain showers. The room was too bright at night, with much outside light from the bathroom that you could not block out due to the opaque glass bathroom Door. There are decorative lights on the balcony that can’t be turned off. You’ll need a sleep mask in room 304.

A perfect little pit stop in a safe and interesting quarter. The staff we over an above kind and helpful. Loved having a balcony and a French windows to open. The room was small but just fine for a couple of nights. My sister recommend this hotel to me last year as they enjoyed and I would recommend too - if you are looking for a small friendly boutique hotel.

Great location. Directly across from Maxwell Food Center and MRT station. Staff super friendly and professional. Hotel is a little dated, but very clean. Complimentary mini bar that is stocked daily is a nice touch.

GREAT LOCATION

Stayed for 3 nights. The hotel is in an excellent location for Chinatown, easy transport links via Maxwell MRT, Chinatown or Tanjong Pagar MRT'S. Maxwell Hawker Centre a minute walk away for food. Great little rooftop bar open from 5 pm. It's a quirky little hotel, corridors are like a rabbit warren. We were at room 240, no view, at the back of the hotel, but adequate enough with super comfy bed and complimentary mini bar/snacks I would definitely stay here again.

The staff was absolutely wonderful. The extras provided to us was fabulous. Free water, free wine or beer and fresh fruit always available right in the heart of Chinatown so we could see the beautiful temples and go through their markets.

This was the best choice of the trip! The location was ideal for Chinatown and very near the bus stop, as well as as lovely breakfast spots. Checkin to leave bags was a breeze early in the AM and I returned late evening to find the bags were in my room. The free gifts in the room were numerous and incredible! A bottle of wine, refrigerator full of snacks and drinks, lovely tote bag, toothbrushes, endless bottles of water, and more. This is the most unique boutique hotel with character I have ever stayed in, but I understand renovations will begin April 2025 through the fall... hoping it keeps that old-timey feel. I travel solo and felt safe everywhere. Highly recommend room 236 at the end of the row. I read that some rooms do not have windows but this one did. Very comfortable.

Lovely small hotel with excellent staff. Don’t bother with a balcony room - outlook is a car park and there is a bright lantern light on the balcony which prevented having a dark bedroom was a bit of a downer

A different kind of vibe - a unique experience

Wonderful boutique hotel very close to Chinatown and the Hawker food center and the Maxwell MRT station is less than a block away...excellent location for an tourist! The staff was excellent...very helpful in every way possible! The snacks in the lobby and mini-bar (free) were a very pleasant and appreciated treat. As many other reviews will tell you, the rooms are small and they don't all have windows (we had a very small skylight)...but you don't come to Singapore to sit in your room! The bathroom was very spacious and comfortably appointed, including the provided toiletries. Overall, the charm and location of the Scarlet Hotel is the main draw. The art deco decor is a nice change from the big box hotels. It was a very relaxing stay and the rooftop bar was an added bonus with a view after a long day of sightseeing.

Great location for all sights. Staff very friendly. Fresh fruit, water, crisps and biscuits in reception. Free mini bar with good selection. Our room (303) was small and quite noisy. Lift had a musty smell which was not very nice.
