The water temperature never got warm. We were told that is just their waters temperature. We discovered blood on the bottom of the sheets. Asked for new sheets, they never came. Finally had to go to the front desk to get them and strip the bed ourselves. Cheap option but not completely worth the savings.

Bathroom door knob was broken, giant hairball on the shower wall, washer And dryer broken, dirty floor turned our white socks brown, reservation for 4 but only towels for 2, no haircare products (shampoo and conditioner) in bathroom, signage to find amenities like the pool were either nonexistent or hard to find, pool was fun but no big deal. Not impressed for $300 a night! I’ve had perfect stays at other hotels for $89 a night! Never coming back!

When we stayed at this property, it was in transition from a Howard Johnson's to a different owner, so our experience might not reflect what the hotel's potential is, with new owners. What we liked: VERY convenient to the airport, quiet, sheets were clean, easy parking, staff was efficient and friendly. In that sense, it was perfectly adequate for our expectations, especially considering it was one of the lowest priced hotels in the area. What we did not like: the floors were sticky dirty, and there were used, dirty towels in the bathroom. The window latch was broken and could easily be opened from the outside, so we blocked the window with a stick for safety. Also the first impression upon arrival was not good; there were no signs on the building and we were unsure we were in the right place until we went inside. There is a small sign by the street, but very hard to see. (Again, this is probably reflective of the fact that the property is in transition). We suspect this property will be a lot better once new management has time to get up to speed.

Arrived at the Germaine Hotel about 2:30pm, after spending the morning traveling from Bangor and then hiking the Freedom Trail in downtown Portland...so needed a shower and a rest...was told the room wasn't ready and check-in was 3pm...so got my luggage and waited in the lobby ...15 minutes later the desk guy comes and asks if I've already checked -in...when I replied No, he says well your room is ready...as my room turned out to be about 15' from the lobby, I can say with some degree of certainty that no staff member entered it toake it ready in that period of time... The bathroom floor was filthy, missing tile base behind the toilet as well as missing tile...the wall paper apply was falling off the wall, the windows were filthy and the lamps had missing or burnt out bulbs...not worth the money I spent.

Floor in room 405 was sticky, clearly unswept. Bathroom floor, too. Which is crazy because there was literally a cockroach leg on the floor 🙃 Bathroom tub/shower did not even look wiped down. Toilet looked fine. Stayed in a double queen bed room—bedsheets on one bed had what appeared to be a make up stain on them. Staff was fine, friendly. Mattress was super comfy. Overall it just looked like our room was hardly cleaned, which is gross.

Overall the property was fine. However our floors in our room were extremely sticky when dry and slippery when wet. I assume there’s a build up of dirt and/or cleaning products? I wore shoes anytime I walked around the room.
