Grimness of Holiday Inn Express M27

Terrible restaurant and bar area, which would struggle to serve even as a half-decent works canteen. The awfulness of the stay was exacerbated by my being expected to pay for the privilege of parking my car in the hotel car-park.

D8nig area has holes/tears in carpet as big as 12in. X 12in and seam tears 18". Room was clean but in need of updating, as there were drilled hole showing in multiple places where previous fixtures used to be. Staff was efficient, but average on friendliness. Outside landscaping was not kept at all. Room was on the small side, but clean

Very disappointing

This hotel was a disaster from the very beginning. It just felt dirty in the bedrooms, the carpets were very stained. My wife used the restroom and immediately the roll of toilet paper fell off the wall and into a puddle of water that had accumulated around the toilet. I assume either the toilet or the shower was leaking. The toilet roll holder was at fault and it was impossible to securely reattach a roll of toilet paper to it. So we just had to improvise. On checking the bedding, it was stained in several places. Not necessarily stains that would wash out, permanent stains, but even so it didn’t Make us feel confident about the cleanliness of the hotel. By far the worst part of the hotel was the breakfast arrangements. I’ll admit, we were at the hotel at a very busy time and the restaurant just couldn’t cope with the number of visitors. It was almost impossible to find a free table but the bigger issue was the lack of staff. They were clearly stressed, I witnessed one of them being very short tempered with guests. The restaurant was also very dirty. However, on our last day, we thought breakfast ended at 10 AM. At 9:45 AM my wife was in line to get some fried eggs, and a female employee pushed in front of her and removed almost a full tin of eggs and took them into the kitchen. They were never replaced. We assumed maybe we were wrong and breakfast ended at 9: 30 a.m. but on checking, it just seemed the staff wanted to go home early. We will not be returning.

Great little stay before a cruise

Restaurant has a reasonable range of food for dinner and a great breakfast. Room is a little tired but functional. Staff were happy to provide extra tea and milk Bed was large and comfy though we both struggled with the pillows. Aircon worked well and it was nice to be able to open a window. Plenty of parking though no longer free as we booked before the charge we were provided free parking.
