We stayed here overnight for our wedding anniversary. I emailed the hotel prior to our visit to ask for a specific room and was pleasantly surprised on arrival to find that we had been allocated the room we’d asked for. This was very much appreciated, everything was just right, the toiletries in the bathroom, the feather pillows, the friendly staff and a very tasty good quality breakfast made our stay a memorable one. Thank you.
Checking in was a it chaotic as it as done in a very noisy bar area, stairs leading to room was a bit of a challenge for our elderly dog. Room was lovely although very dark with dark furniture and very low levels of lamp lighting, no main ceiling lights.breakfast was good and the evening dinner was not bad, although not much choice and we were a little disappointed that we had to sit in the noisy bar to eat even though we had booked a table in their restaurant area we were not aware they did not allow dogs in that area even though they said they were dog friendly pub, it was a puzzle. Overall the stay was pleasant but I did think it was overpriced. Wouldn’t rush back there because of the points I have mentioned but mainly the excessive price tag for the stay
It’s a very peaceful Hampshire village with a good ambience and a historic pub that rents out six rooms that are full of character. There are nice touches like slippers and bathrobes provided along with an Nespresso machine and a good smart TV. Also, excellent bath salts etc to make your stay enchanting. The breakfast was cooked to perfection and made with the best artisan produce. All in all highly recommended.
Room was great - loads of character and "oldy worldy" charm. Unfortunately everything else was pretty average - had to order evening meal at the bar, food average, service generally lacking (pretty much run by kids) and very noisy. Breakfast okay.
Had to eat earlier than requested because kitchen closed early. Good, though a little expensive, fish and chips. Enjoyed the stay. Room assigned was certainly quirky in a good way. Didn't get chance to drink the complementary beer.
My husband and I went for a Friday to Sunday weekend break. We had a wonderful time. The staff were amazing all so friendly, welcoming and polite. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Our room was beautiful and so cosy. The food and drink were excellent. We enjoyed it so much we cannot wait to return for another visit.
All staff were helpful and friendly, and the food was lovely (we had dinner as well as breakfast). Our room was small but comfortable with little touches like bottles of water and chocolates. The inn has real character, be prepared for the sloping floors and watch your head in the bedroom and all doorways. The rooms are named after ships and you can understand why. Would definitely stay again.
