Stayed for three nights (Sunday through Tuesday). The hotel has a great location but being on the Avenue in Southampton means that the traffic noise is awful particularly if your room is on the front of the building. The rooms are dated but clean as were the linen and towels. The breakfast was good and the coffee excellent. The evening meal was uninspiring.
The staff are incredibly polite, friendly and helpful and cannot be faulted.
No elevators and steep, narrow stairs making it difficult and treacherous for seniors to lug bags.Assistsnce was offered but not forthcoming. Only one set of towels initially in our double room and a second set had to be requested. The next day a new set was requested but she must have forgotten. No tissues in the bathroom and no amenities other than soap.
Staff was friendly though
Had a great stay only little comment is in my room on the ground floor overlooking the rear car park there is no blind in the bathroom and the toilet is directly under the window. When the light is on you can actually see in the bathroom from outside.
The lady on duty Sunday evening and Monday morning was lovely, her customer service is exemplary
Not use to old English hotels. No elevator was the only real problem. My fault. No A/C, but it was September and not that warm out.

The staff were exceptionally accommodating, and the room was both spacious and comfortable. The hotel's location offers easy access to public transport which allows you to explore Southampton and Winchester
Very clean hotel. We ate at their restaurant, the food was very good. We had the omelette and steak and ale pie. Bar/restaurant had good, happy vibe as most guests, including us, we going on a cruise the next day. Staff couldn’t have been nicer or more helpful.

Our room was small, but very nice and very clean.
Oddly, to gain access we had to walk through an uneven (gravel) parking lot around to the back of the property. Unlike other rooms, our room was not accessible from the hotel lobby.
An amazing hotel, convenient for what we needed. We had dinner and breakfast there the food was great and plenty to choose from and the staff were very helpful and friendly. Highly recommend this hotel, will see you all again soon
Peaceful, secluded and very pleasant back garden to relax in. Great walking access to the Common, the university and the downtown. Friendly manager.
Generous "full English" breakfast.
If you've mobility issues, then I recommend requesting a ground floor room. The stairs are narrow and there is no lift/elevator. Overall, I'd highly recommend this property over any of the chain hotels in the surrounding area.
