My favorite Spokane stopover for business

This was my 3rd time staying over at this hotel for business, and it continues to be a favorite stopover. I choose this hotel (instead of the new hotel beside it) every time. I greatly appreciate the ease of walking over from the airport. I adore the restaurant, bar, fitness room, and outdoor fire pits. I like the relative quiet of his hotel compared to others.

Only issue was that I called front desk right after arriving at airport. Was happy to walk to hotel, but it was dark, and it was unclear to me how to walk there. I needed walking directions. I had trouble reaching desk by phone as she was very busy. I called several times. Eventually I got through.

Pool area looked neat for kids, hot tub was not working. Breakfast was pretty good for a free hotel breakfast. Had a great little dog park, was so nice to let the dogs run after a long drive.

Very sketchy people hanging around the parking lot. Called the front desk about an suv playing loud music parked by our window. They couldn’t help. Awoken at some point with marijuana smells invading my cpap machine.

The outdoor courtyard was great. Fun fire pits for smores, outdoor cornhole and connect four games. Pool was open, but guests should note waterside is open a certain hours in the morning and certain hours in the evening. Having a lifeguard was nice. The breakfast bar was fine. It was understaffed, empty of foods, and totally out of syrup. Not sure why someone couldn’t have ran to Costco or Walmart to fix that situation. The beds were comfortable and our room was spacious. I would definitely stay here again, but would not do the breakfast.

The rooms are pretty clean however you can tell they are aged. Staff is friendly and accommodating. Lounge was also ok. Complimentary breakfast was abundant and actually pretty good. Just the whole hotel is showing its age.

On the surface everything appeared to be in order & clean. Front staff was nice. In my room there was a definite mold/mycotoxin presence. The air felt very humid, which is not really the environment of the outdoors & smelled meldewy. I have CIRS, which is Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome, caused by toxic mold exposure. It’s something that I pretty much have well managed at this point unless I’m in a very water compromised building. I stayed 10 minutes & my face began to swell ever so slightly, my head began to spin and become foggy, the back of my throat became sore and scratchy. I felt frozen & so googled what I should do if a building was causing a CIRS flare. The recommendation was to leave immediately, and so I did. Room pretty much untouched. I went to a local church & afterwards called the hotel explaining the situation. She said that the manager would get back to me. The manager never did, and I called three different times. I went through Expedia to get a refund, and they could not achieve one. They said that the hotel staff went into the room and did not see any mold. Which is not how mold works most of the time. I stayed at the Cambria next door & it was a breath of fresh air. Similarly priced, clean clean clean & no mold issues. Don’t stay in this run down old hotel, it needs a remodel & to have its issues addressed. Mycotoxins can contribute to significant health complications, including autoimmune diseases. It affects women and children most.
