Waiting, freezing and separated!

Our rooms weren’t ready at check-in time and we waited over an hour for them to be ready. What made it even more frustrating is we called a hour before check-in time to ask if we could check in early. We were told the rooms weren’t cleaned yet but still hadn’t started when we arrived at check-in time The lobby is under renovation so the only place we could sit and wait was by the pool. The comfortable couches by the pool were wet so we tried relaxing on the non-cushioned lounge chairs. We were in Springfield for the family weekend at MSU visiting our daughter and had our other two daughters with us. We had all planned on taking a nap before going to the evening football game but now couldn’t do that because our rooms were being cleaned. This definitely affected the mood of everyone. After the game we were very tired and once we laid down we realized there was no comforter on our king size bed, only layers of sheets and one slightly thicker sheet/blanket. I was cold most of the night so I didn’t sleep great. Our girls had a separate room from us which we were originally told was close but later realized that while they were on the same floor they were in two different ends of the hotel. Our girls are all grown so there was no problem in that regard but would have liked to have them at least on the same side of the hotel in order to have a little more family time. Regarding the hour + wait for our room there was an apology but never any offer to give us a discount or anything.

We keep coming back.

We have stayed 3 times at this location for family trips and it is always clean and staff is friendly. The toilet in room 215 does have a water flap that needs replacing because after flushing the toilet water wants to keep running which created a noise issue.

The staff was excellent, and the facility was clean but the facilities were lacking in general. The rooms were outdated and cheaply put together, for example, the toilet wasn’t sealed to the bathroom floor and slid around when you went to sit down and the frame around the mirror came off. The free continental breakfast were served in crockpots that my grandmother had 30 years ago and there was one coffee carafe for the entire hotel.

Toilet overflowed the first time it was used putting fecal matter and water all over the bathroom floor. When notifying the staff the hotel was booked soild as she tried to move us to another room. The end resolution was giving me a bunch of towels and a plunger for me to take care of the plumbing issue and the mess. When asking at checkout for compensation of some type i was informed i booked through Expedia and the hotel could do nothing for me and i would have to take it up with Expedia.

Arrived to find lobby in the middle of renovations. Room was large and appeared refurbished however the toilet seat look melted/heat damaged and black blobs of (?) grout in toilet pan that didn’t flush. Gym closed due to renovations. Breakfast was basic but nice. Carpet seemed new but already has a couple of stains. Towels were fresh and soft, clean room. Could be great but management need to check quality of workmanship finish, i.e sharp metal strips in the lift.

Please don’t be caught unaware like me

Please be aware the owner discriminates against customers based on the city and state they live in. This may lead to separate “refundable” holds on your card greater than the overall value of the stay in addition to the typical incidental charges. The pool is not only outside which you can see from the pictures but is also not heated. The exercise room is currently under repairs and unusable. Breakfast was good but they did run out of several items including coffee and juice within the first 45 minutes of service which were not replaced by the time we left the breakfast room. Getting to the hotel was convenient off the highways but beyond that I would not recommend this hotel. We will not stay again.
