Nice classic New England hotel, needs sprucing

Check in was good. Front desk staff were very friendly. The hotel itself could use an update. I can directly compare this hotel to Amherst College's rival premiere hotel, The Williams Inn. The "old" Williams Inn was left behind and brand new hotel was built from the ground up with all the modern updates and comforts that you'd desire. This hotel, Inn on Boltwood, felt pretty outdated. The walls / ceiling in our suite had peeling paint and ants all over the floor. The elevator is a tiny throwback elevator that can barely fit 3 people with full size luggage. Quaint is nice sometimes, but a fresh coat of paint, ant removal and some modern upgrades would go a long way to keep quaint alive!

they didnt have my reservation active (i suppose they don't update the info with expedia because they didnt have the reservation i required, but had some previous canceled ones), and gave me a queen bed instead of a king bed i had on my expedia active reservation. they told me i needed to pay to cancel my canceled reservations. on the next day, they didnt even told me but recognized the big mistake.

Wonderful place!

Wonderful hotel, everything was outstanding from the front desk staff, to the cleanliness of the room, to the restaurant. Great location to explore Amherst, or hangout with wine and cheese on the patio.
