Wonderful…smiles from all the staff when they see you and everyone is happy to help in any way. The night Porter was very helpful and friendly, the reception team couldn’t do enough and the breakfast staff went the extra mile! We forgot our robes from the room but the spa team were kind and gave us spares. The spa isn’t quite as opulent as the photos, but the service more than makes up for it, Comfy beds, great shower, delicious breakfast all in a beautiful setting. Highly recommend for a stay in Cornwall, with easy access the south coast. Will be recommending to friends and family

Lovely setting, ideal base to explore Cornwall. Super breakfast and dinner menu offered a good selection with a different catch of the day each day. Charging an additional £3.50 for a latte at breakfast time was however a little much. Room was of a good size and had a terrific view of the countryside noting that the wooden balcony was in need of some TLC! Overall and enjoyable stay.

There was a big stain on the carpet & no plugs near the bed but it was a lovely large room & balcony which would have been great if the weather was dry. I read that the grounds were closed but guessing they will be beautiful when it’s not raining. Arrived too late to use the spa & decided not to stay in the morning as had a busy itinerary- feel I should have taken a look at the pool tho - maybe next time!

The staff at the hotel were excellent and keen to help, although the young staff in the restaurant lacked guidance on occasions so that service was a bit disjointed at times. Food cooked in the kitchen was excellent and reasonably good value. The buffet breakfast was poor and surely staff could bring tea and coffee to the table? Having to trek back and forth for a cup of tea at a time was a challenge for many older guests. The hotel seems to be suffering from wanting to expand rapidly whilst not addressing some areas of cleanliness and outdated rooms. Our room was bizarre, with a bathroom in the room which was irritating at best and a loudly dripping shower kept us awake some nights. The walls were scratched and marked and generally tired, although it was all pretty clean. The restaurant loved a mirror but these are obviously not regularly cleaned and so were smeared and there were many cobwebs and dust on the many strange light fittings in all the communal areas. The office, which opens off the entrance foyer, was filthy so perhaps keep the door shut or even give it a clean? This is a pleasant hotel but please don't let greed expand it until it just becomes a holiday park.
