This is a terrific young mom and pop motel! Super room, great hosts, stunning surroundings and just fabulous! This will be our new go to motel when we travel frequently in the Upper Peninsula!!!!.

Such a quaint little place! Check in was a breeze- the people working there are so genuine and helpful. The beds are sooo comfy! They gave us extra coffee pods- plenty of towels too. The grounds are immaculately kept with so many flowers. Only 2 miles from town. We will definitely stay here again. I honestly can’t say enough good things about Sunset Motel. A great find for the price.

Sunset Motel was an excellent choice for a stop at Mackinac Island, much more affordable than island lodging. Take a short ride to the island on the ferry. When preparing to return, we happily discovered that people staying in Mackinaw City had a long ferry wait line while we just got on board. The owner of the Sunset was very helpful & does a wonderful job of keeping the motor & the grounds in great condition. While our room was small, it had everything we needed, including a Keurig and small fridge. The bed was also very comfortable.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. An old motel that has been completely updated. So comfortable. So homey. The gardens around the property were absolutely lovely. Multiple plugs on both sides of a king bed to accommodate multiple devices. And, very, very clean. Such care is taken to make this a comfortable stay. My one suggestion would be to put a tabletop ironing board and iron in the room.

I was a little hesitant with a "motel". But it exceeded our expectations (3 60 yo female Grosse Pointers). Cleanest place I've ever stayed, beds were comfortable, staff was all super friendly. It was a quick stop in St. Ignace for us on our way home from the UP. Busy street right in front, but didnt bother us. And oh the flowers, they were plentiful and beautiful!

Just a great stay.Room was very clean, big sink to share , great lighting and even tray tables to use while sitting on the coach instead of the bed. They thought of everything you would need in your room especially if you were bringing in food.

Gem in the North
I don’t normally pick a roadside motel for any stay, but after reading the reviews I gave it a try. This is probably the cleanest room I have ever stayed in anywhere. Yes, it’s a little cramped inside and the ceilings are a little low, but I was happy to trade that for clean and comfortable. It has what you need and is so well maintained. Restaurant next door makes it a perfect spot to stop.
