This hotel is great for people that prefer a more interesting space than a conventional hotel. Close walk to the downtown area and the staff was really friendly. Note if youre on the 4th floor you need to walk up one flight of stairs.

Great Hotel

Really loved the older charm this hotel had, the upkeep of the building is excellent. Not a cookie cutter like other hotels and not rundown like many other older hotels. Room was huge and so was the bathroom. Very clean and the little fireplace added a cozy, comforting touch.

Location is excellent. This hotel is on the waterfront, just steps from the pedestrian areas of Water Street and George Street, which are full of shops and restaurants. The hotel is a historic building, full of character, but with modern amenities. We enjoyed the live music nightly in the courtyard. Breakfast was adequate - muffins, croissants, etc. Easy to get to and free parking. Rooms above the third floor are accessible by stair only. We enjoyed our 2 night stay here.

Beautiful but tired.

A beautiful old building in a great location that needs some improvements as it is heading downhill. The queen bed is more like a double and needs to be replaced, as do the pillows. The carpet needs to go, it is old and stained. The room was darker than necessary as it was lit with lamps designed for 3 way bulbs but equipped with regular bulbs. This could be a centrepiece of downtime St John’s if it was given some TLC.

Great location – tons of places to eat and shop very close-by – all easily walkable. Underwhelmed by the very light breakfast and the 2 cans of very cheap commercial light beer as the VIP "welcoming gift". Should have been beer from a local brewery. Otherwise, I liked my stay – room was very spacious and I loved the big tub in the bathroom.

We thought the building had a quaint classic appeal. The location is excellent with good parking. Our room was really spacious with a large bathroom. Very clean. The hotel recommends the Gypsy tearoom for dinner. We tried it out and it was delicious. Try the lemon cheesecake for dessert! The staff at the restaurant were so friendly and accommodating.

Room is very spacious shower room is huge but no bath tub. No microwave. Access to Water st. I really recommend this hotel.
