Not great if you are not French speaking
1. Hotel is in the middle of nowhere - no entertainment in or nearby - everyone sleeps early here, including the owners 2. Rooms are rustic hippie designed which is nice if you are looking for attitude 3. The air conditioner in the room hidden away behind the cupboard and starts by leaking water for first five minutes 4. Hot water shower is slow and not working st all on second day. 5. Nice jacuzzi also not working no water from tap 6. Breakfast was only stale bread and coffee and juice - omelette has to be ordered and paid for separately 7. Great hotel you are French you get asked if you want cut fruit for breakfast while I sat there wondering why I wasn’t asked. This resort is great hideaway for French speaking courting couples who just want stay away from everyone else.

Wonderful Experience
Amazing property. Gorgeous views and meticulously detailed decor through the property.
This place was special for us. Quaint, charming yet upscale and luxe. I know that sounds like an oxymoron but it’s true. Stephane and Karine (with their beautiful daughter Mahina) built this with their own blood, sweat and tears.
The room we stayed in had oversized king bed, AC and Wi-Fi. Infinity edge pool, beautiful ocean view from up high, rainbows every day.
Restaurant was fantastic. Stephane is a world class chef. Had the best chirashi ever. Who knew? In Dominica not Tokyo! Decor was international chic with areas for France, Mexico, Japan and Morocco. Plus welded artwork throughout, courtesy of Stephane. Multi talented guy with a great sense of humor. But you have to push him a bit to get him going haha.
Stephane set us on course for our daily travels. Very knowledgeable.
Karine was welcoming and gracious, but struggled
with English. Her masseuse skills were exquisite. Get a massage.
Mango Island is a hidden gem. It’s on the Caribbean side and close to many natural wonders and local restaurants (although our best meals were at the lodge).
A heart thank you to our hosts.
Mango Island Lodges are hard to beat on any level. Nice pool, great views, wonderful people and food, and uniquely lovely rooms. You do need a vehicle.

An small oasis of timber-built lodges, perched on a hill overlooking the Caribbean Sea in this beautiful garden island. Tasty, home cooked dishes using local ingredients. Chilled.
After a beach break in Antigua we wanted to explore the 'Nature Island' that is Dominica. Mango Island Lodge was the perfect base. This beautiful lodge has a wonderful view of the sea, well presented rooms, a pristine infinity pool and is located centrally just off the main Portsmouth-Roseau road.
The owners are excellent hosts and have clearly worked hard to create a lodge of international calibre in what through it's sheer remoteness is a relatively challenging location for such an endeavour.
We wouldn't dream of booking anywhere else if we ever return to Dominica. Highly recommend.
We couldn't be happier with our stay here. The hosts were very accommodating to our every whim, the food was exquisitely prepared and delicious, and the room was whimsical and romantic. We were perfectly situated between Rosseau and Portsmouth on the west coast which afforded us beautiful and short drives to each of our daily activities. We agreed that if we do make it back to Dominica, we will stay here again.
Really enjoyed our few days at Mango Lodge. An unique place to stay in a very peaceful and relaxing environment. Great view sitting on our balcony looking down over Miri Beach and up the coast. A little 'away from it all' but hosts went out of their way to arrange tour and suggest sightseeing options. Great infinity pool; fabulous at the end of a hot day.
Very beautiful hotel area. Outside 125 different kinds of plants and flowers to see. Beautiful view to the sea. Wonderful pool and jacuzzi. Very kind and helpful staff.

We really enjoyed our week stay in the Prestige room with great view, service and everything. Thanks a lot to Stephan and Karin who was friendly and very good in helping with any questions we might have.
All in all a great week in Dominica.

I totally enjoyed my stay at Mangoes. The owner was very accommodating, pleasant and very customer oriented. My trip was a business trip, it is 25mins to Roseau but after a hectic day at the office Mangoes was ideal for relaxing. There are lots of mosquitoes but that is expected with the location but a huge net covers the bed and I had lots of bug spray. There is not much to do in St Joseph so having a vehicle is recommended unless you are happy remaining on the compound. If I ever return, this will be my 1st choice.
Lovely place with a charming atmosphere. The owner and staff are very kind people, they made our stay very pleasant. There’s a beach down in Mero next to the hotel which is the perfect spot for sunset. Our room was lovely, with stunning views! Will definitely stay there again when we’re back in Dominica!
Great (and brand new) location, comfy room, great sea views, really nice food and an amazing host who knows a lot about the island. A 4wd is recommended to drive up the short but steep driveway. When ever we come back to Dominica, we will definately come back here.
