The neighboring communites were hit by power outages caused by tornados causing a drastic overflow the hotel could not have prepared for. We weren't able to get in our room as rooms needed to be cleaned...caused delay (manager was on cleaning duty). Staff were friendly, honest and gave good dining recommendations. Expedia needs to update phone # for the hotel on the confirmation email.

Not a good experience and likely not a fluke. I arrived with my son at 9pm, rooms not ready (other guests were also waiting) apparently due to a system glitch. Waited for 45min after being told that room will be ready in 20min, then another 10min, etc… we were exhausted having driven all the way from New Orleans. After a bit more pressure they finally “upgraded” us to a king room and couch. My son fortunately slept, I however woke up sore and cold on the couch. Now they refuse to even give us a discount on the stat. Area around it pretty dirty, breakfast mediocre (we didn’t have it as it was also really crowded). I know this was supposed to be a night stay on the way to Chicago by avoiding St Luis but it was a really really disappointing. Will avoid this chain / brand in the future. It wasn’t even a cheap hotel to get some consolation from “you get what you pay for” …

STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE

After diligently searching for this property, since we've stayed here many times in the past on our way back home to Iowa, its name is now changed. But we finally found it. Only to show up exhausted from a long car ride and excited kids ready for the pool. The front deck got us all checked in and then informed us that the pool and hot tub (main reasons why we booked) are closed! They said they were discounting rates for the inconvenience but couldn't help us since we booked through Hotels.com and to call them. Which we did wait on hold with Hotels.com hotline for them to point the finger right back at the hotel. They couldn't reach the manager to discount us like everyone else or to even cancel our booking so we could stay somewhere else. At this point we were just ready for bed. Hotels.com assured us that they would take care of it with it with a refund within 72 hours. Only to get a disappointing email several days later stating that they still couldn't reach the front desk and there's nothing they can do to accommodate us. Long story short, this used to be a great place to stay, but not anymore! Go somewhere else! Staff is rude, hotel is not very clean, and i hope your not hungry in the morning! Breakfast was a crap show! Food was brought out in small portions that were immediately gone as soon as it came out. I mean literally everything! We didn't get anything after waiting 1 1/2 hrs. With hungry kids we loaded up and headed to McDonald's. WARNING STAY AWAY!!!!!

The only saving grace of this hotel is that the beds are comfortable!! Upon check-in we were told the pool/spa was closed but would hopefully be available in morning. It wasn't, in fact when we walked by it was half drained. There's a water fountain in the hallway that is broken off the wall and completely disgusting underneath. The room is very small! I thought I'd booked 2 queens but the beds were doubles at best, my feet hung off the end. The bathroom is so small you cannot even turn around and there is not a vent fan. So, there is obviously no privacy for bathroom usage and you have to exit immediately after your shower because it's so humid! The water pressure is a joke. If you have long/thick hair, there is no hope of rinsing the shampoo out. Our room had minor water damage by the window. The TV only gets like 20 channels and they are completely random. That includes the guide channel that was not at all what the channels were. I asked about a channel guide and was told that they were in the midst of switching providers. Breakfast was ok. Biscuits and gravy, potatoes, eggs, bagels, cereal, yogurt and juice. There was a spot for a "pancake maker" that was also out of order.

I tried to check in at 4.30 and was told no rooms available, waited 30 mins and told to come back. Had a meeting so had to change and clean up in the toilet. Came back at 10.45 to check in and they only had a single king when I had already paid and reserved 2 queens. I had my 24 year old daughter with me so I slept in the chair in the room which was not ideal. I complained but they said I needed to call Expedia as that’s how I booked it. Expedia reimbursed me after the hotel manager refused to.

The non-smoking room had clearly been smoked in, the smell was stagnant. No wash rags in the room and heard others stating no blankets. Went down for breakfast and walked up to employees verbally fighting. Went to get our food and the room was extremely untidy. Trash was piled outside of the garbage can, messes all over the place. We ended up leaving and eating at Cracker Barrel next door. All in all, it was an okay place to sleep but definitely not worth the price I paid.
