The hotel is convenient to local dining and shopping, very walkable area. The hotel is pretty old which is fine, but the rooms are pretty dated, we had no hot water the entire trip, the bathroom door didn't close, the mattress was terrible. There is only one elevator for all six floors and the cleaning staff use it as well so you pretty much had a ten minute wait each time we came or went. I'd probably use it again if it's only a one night sty but not for anything longer.
Was traveling to do college tours for my child. Looking for a nice clean hotel on a budget for 1 night. I gave this place a chance and so glad i did. It is clean and cute. It feels like home. It's a historic hotel so not modern but will stay with them again any time i am that way.
I book & travel for a living as a Travel Agent. I decided to give this hotel a try. This was by far the WORST hotel I have ever experienced. The staff does not care. The young man who works the front desk at night needs some serious therapy & mental health services. First problem was the Tv in room wasn't working & in order to fix it we needed batteries so when we told him his response was "What do you want me to do about it?". We didnt have hit water the first day then it was luke warm. We also ran into a disabled fema guest who ran out of oxygen & needed in her room, the same young man just hands me her room key when I told him this lady was locked out of her room & unable to breath. He decided first to run his mouth about how she is crazy & needs to go stay somewhere else with her fema money!! During same conversation it hit the exact time he got off & he said "I dont know where the next guy is & honestly i dont give a crap I am out of here." Then he just walked out the front door leaving the lobby empty! We also woke up at 7am to the loudest music ever from the room across, who we were told by same crap talking young man employee that it was a friend of the owners & the guys is always doing it. This place is absolutely horrrible & should be shut down!
We wanted to love this historic hotel, but it was evidently declining. The walls and curtains had water damage, the headboard had stains, and the fabrics reeked of smoke. The tv didn’t work for two of the three days of our stay, and the front desk was less than helpful, and more than once downright rude. It’s too bad, because the managers seemed nice, and you could see the building had been grand once.
The Hotel is older, but had everything we needed in terms of location. The room was clean, but there was no soap bars in the bathroom. The staff is excellent and helpful. The Hotel is in dire need of upgrades. OVERALL A 7 OUT OF 10.
A cool old hotel that has not been well-maintained or updated well. There was hot water, clean sheets and the door locked. A great cheap option for St. Pete. Close to all the fun restaurants and bars.
Lobby looked nice until we got to our room.
1) The whole building and room is on slope
2) Room feels like someone’s bedroom
3) The bed is terrible and is on a slope
4) Room smelt terrible, when we put the heat on, the smell was so bad I almost threw up
5) The room was very clean!
6) We had a bulb out in the bathroom, so we couldn’t see
7) Walls are thin, you can hear everything. I was up until 5am, the room beside us had their tv on loud playing music, talking to people, laughing out loud.
8) I got maybe 1.5 hrs of sleep and luckily woke up to a strong Marijuana smell.
9) lady at front desk was nice, but we left that morning.
