We really enjoyed our stay at the Stirling Hotel. It’s located about 15-20 minutes walk from town and restaurant in a very peaceful and quiet area and offers very nice, spacious rooms for your stay.

Got to the hotel to find we had been put in a twin disabled room and that the main light didn’t work. After roughly an hour of asking someone finally came to tell us that the light wasn’t working and there wasn’t anything they could do as it needed to be maintenance. The only light we had was the bedside light which was no good to use to get ready as the mirror was at the other side of the room. We was then told the hotel didn’t have any spare lamps so they brought us a colour changing decoration lamp which to be honest was useless. The toilet was leaking and water constantly ran into it. Both myself and partner have come home with bites. We wouldn’t stay again which is a shame because the hotel looked nice and I was expecting a much better experience. The food in the hotel was nice and the bar staff were lovely.

The location was great, Wallace Monument view from rear of building at night was unreal! The check in staff was top notch, would recommend this place to everyone.

The young lady, Maer, at the front desk was very helpful. The Google map to the Hotel was confusing but the ambience, the room, the bed, and bar area were outstanding. It was very clean and quiet.

The details on Expedia said that there was a pool at the property, this is untrue, the pool is a 10 minute walk away, and a 10 minute walk back, which was manageable the first day because the weather good. The second day however torrential rain meant I was not prepared to make the 20 minute round trip to swim. I would have booked Creiff Hydro had I know about the location of the pool. Not happy about being deceived.

Breakfast was excellent. Good choice of food and really tasty. Unfortunately though the hotel is a bit dated. The rooms could do with a bit of a refresh and because we had a room on the ground floor, we could hear the squeaky floors above us and people walking around. It claims to be a dog friendly hotel but we weren’t even allowed to take the dog into the lounge/bar area, so we had to have a drink in our room or in reception.

If I could give a 3.5, I would. The hotel staff was very kind and helpful. The food in the in-house restaurant was delicious. The problem that I faced was the bathroom. The bathrooms layout itself leaves a lot to be desired. The bathtub/shower combo didn't work efficiently, the body wash/shampoo dispenser was broken. The bed was comfortable but the bathroom left a lot to be desired.
