Historic High School Hotel

In an old high school which was used from 1860s to 1960s, then served as a archives for 30 years and now converted to a hotel. It’s a cool building with a working planetarium which you may not find at any other hotels in the UK. The gym is wonderful – really outstanding with a pool, racquetball court, large workout room with weights and machines. Lots of parking. Close walk to the castle at the top of the hill or the downtown shops and restaurants below. Downside is the rooms, hallways, and bathrooms are pretty shabby and you can’t open the windows much to get in fresh air. The beds are adequate and clean. Good location for a night stay to see the local sights.

Nice bedroom, bathroom not so good

The bedroom had lovely views. The bathroom was shabby, towel rail lose, old curtain fixtures showing, no toilet brush, skirting board needs repainting, ceiling above shower flacking. Situated in a good spot for railway station and castle. Spa was good. All staff were friendly.

This hotel was wonderful! The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The TV connection was intermittent which normally would not have concerned me to much as I enjoyed exploring the area, however this was near the end of my trip and I did want to do a little more relaxing. Speaking to the area, it was an absolutely great location! It was a short (uphill) walk to the castle and other historical sites I had on my list! There were so many great places to eat and shop within a 5-10 minute walk. Staff was helpful and friendly and made sure I had everything I needed!

This hotel is in a fantastic location. It's easy to walk to the shops, restaurants and the castle. We had 2 standard king rooms. The mattresses were pretty bad. The rest of the rooms desperately need up dating. It was very hot and the windows only opened a crack. It was convenient to have a restaurant on site but the food was just average and over priced. This hotel wants to be a 5 star luxury hotel but it just isn't. With some upgrading it could be great. I probably will stay elsewhere the next time I visit Stirling

This hotel is a former school, and it's an architectural treat to see and stay in. Plenty of free parking on the hotel grounds, even in the center of Stirling. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Very convenient to everything in Stirling, which is a tourist destination without a tourist feel (no tweed/tartan shops, etc.--just a regular Scottish town with a modest castle on the top of the hill).

Beautiful building and amenities. The room was perfect as a solo traveler staying just one night. The deep bathtub was great after many days of walking. Only complaint is how far the window could open. I know it can be a safety concern, that’s why it was limited. But a couple more inches would have made a huge difference and still not allowed anything to slip out.

The Stirling Highland Hotel is clean, and nearby to restaurants, highly-rated excursions, and historical destinations. Parking is available to guests and there are plenty of spaces (just remember to follow the prompts for registration of your vehicle per the hotel). A spa, restaurant, and bar are all available to guests on the property. I would highly recommend the Stirling Highland Hotel. We would stay again!

This property is extremely dated, dirty and stunk of cigarette smoke. The tv remote didn’t work and there was a flickering light in bathroom creating a strobe effect. I would never stay again. Overall a very disappointing property. Check in staff were lovely though.

The perfect hotel in the perfect location

Our first trip to Stirling and The Stirling Highland Hotel was the perfect hotel for the trip. A beautiful building with friendly helpful staff located in the centre of Stirling. So we were able to park the car for two days and walk everywhere. The only time we drove was up to the Wallace Monument.

The building is old, definitely incredible to stay in an historical building. My only complaint and disappointment was the bathroom. The bathrooms really need some updating because the paint is peeling and there were spots of mold in our bathroom. Our first day we had hot water, but not the rest of our stay. The restaurant was great. We had a party of 6 for dinner and everyone really enjoyed their meals. Great job chiefs! Bartenders need more experience, but they were all so kind and willing to help with our questions.
