We were in a room on 2nd floor with no elevator- I’m disabled. The building room was in was separate from main building and it was old and rundown. We had a hard time getting her stuff up the stairway because it was so narrow. We had a hard time getting the door to open because the door or handle it was stuck. The room smelled immediately like old cigarette smoke. there was a long rug that was laying on top of the room rug & each end of the long rug was turned up and wouldn’t lay flat and I was worried about tripping on it and getting hurt.
We didn’t even unpack. We went to find something to eat, and when we got back we checked out.
The clerk told us that I wouldn’t be able to get my check out information until the next morning. She said that they would call me. She asked me if that was all right with me and I said no not really. She said well it’s not up to me. It’s up to my supervisor and also, she will have to decide whether to charge you the full price or not of the room.
It was obvious that they had a very small small amount of people staying there, just by looking at the number of cars that were in the yard.
I stayed at this place 22 years ago with a group of other teachers for a four day retreat. The place then was clean. It smells good, the decor was pleasing and appropriate. Now it just seems like an old relic that’s ready to be closed down. It’s so sad because it was a beautiful place. But it was all than 22 years ago but it was still in good shape. Not anymore.
