80 steps up to the room! :-). Seriously though good buffet, good view, walking distance to tour boats. Facecloths in bathroom was a plus.

The entire village known as Strahan Village is owned by one company and this monopoly means they can charge very high prices for food and alcohol - and there is no where else to go so you don’t have a choice! The prices of even just toast at the cafe is exorbitant and it’s all coming from the same kitchen and you’re served by the same staff as they rotate around. Our accommodation was also overpriced, only serviced once in a 3 day stay and despite letting the desk know the fridge was leaking over the carpeted floor in the first day, no one came to look at it. The furniture is old, falling apart and outdated. I was genuinely shocked as our previous visit roughly 18 years before this was excellent. Staff were all well trained, friendly and helpful. It’s just the monopoly and the lack of maintenance to the properties which really let the place down. We will never return. It’s simply not worth it.

Didn't like the inflexible bookings policy and reception staff response. After requesting to change the date i was staying on the phone, i was asked why i needed to change the booking and that thete would be a fee to change it. The fee was more expensive than the room even though a good search indicated there were rooms still available.

Pulling our bags up the inclined ramp for about 30m is a challenge. There is lack of car parks close to the units. On the possitive side, there is able amount of parking which is owned by the hotel. In the room, there is serious shortage of power points. There is a desk for computer but without any powerpoints. The WiFi is great. Restaurants around the village are limited and expensive. If you are taking the Gordon River Cruise then the village is the ideal place to stay.

We loved the room, booked a second night immediately. Bed was extremely comfortable. Dated, but very clean room. Awesome shower. Loved the ambience. Will stay again.

The room was average. Faced the parking lot but an upgrade to a lake view was 50$ extra per night. Not in our budget. We found restaurants pricey. That said, if your budget allows for a balcony, lake view, well worth it. Area was beautiful. Really good walks in the area.

Very disappointed. I was allocated a waterfront cottage located in between a road and a car park. It was noisy and shook when trucks went up the hilly road next to it. There was absolutely no private area to sit outside and enjoy the view (of the road and car park). Although I could see the water it was hardly waterfront nor located on the esplanade as stated in my booking information and looked nothing like the pictures online. When I expressed my concerns, I was only offered an upgrade if I paid extra as there were no ‘similar’ rooms available. Be wary if booking a waterfront cottage.

Good but not amazing. We were in the big main timber building above reception and had a great view over the harbour in our "executive room" with balcony. But this area of town now feels "corporatised" with one company seemingly managing all the properties in the area and cross-promoting the cafes, bars and restaurants, located just metres away. But virtually everything nearby shuts down at 8pm. This was my third visit in 20 years and Strahan has lost its quaint charm. Now the place is seemingly being taken over by big tourism businesses, while the small businesses are being squeezed. What happened to the small ferry operators and seaplane tours? I recommend supporting the family-owned local operators in what is now a big tourist trap.
