Chose this place because of proximity to dragon boat races. On-site restaurant was lacking. They were out of noodles to make pasta dish on menu, and cook was over an hour late Saturday morning so unable to get breakfast.

The room wasn't clean. One corner had a large spider web with dead flies. Dirty towels left from the pool in the bathroom. Ice bucket was full of water that had a film on it. Refridgerator was full of water. Had to keep putting on the bottom sheet as it wouldn't fit. Maid needs to pay a little more attention on the cleaning. I may stay again but would have to check room first.

The resort rooms and hallways are old and dirty. The rooms we were given had significant visible mold in the bathrooms. I went to the front desk and asked if they had other rooms available for me to look at. I went and checked 5 other rooms, all of which were dirty and smelled, and most had visible mold in the bathrooms. Ultimately we chose to stay there as we had 8 people and needed two rooms, and a quick search for last minute lodging in the area was significantly more than what we could pay. The hotel staff was pleasant enough and I overheard other customers telling them how wonderful their stay was. Everyone has different ideas of what kind of lodging they are comfortable staying in. I guess if you are wanting a place that is going to be clean, free of yucky smells and has no mold, this likely isn't the best place to stay.

Old and outdated. Everything worn out and in need of repair. The restaurant was not good and expensive. They only had half the menu in stock. The over cooked bad food took forever to come out of kitchen.

We were surrounded by water. The dragon boat races were going on, they were awesome. And the SS Meteor was there for tours (last whaleship)

I love this area but sadly this hotel is in dire need of a remodel. The rooms while pretty clean are really beat up and it overall is really dated. I wish someone would give this hotel the love it deserves.

The property is in a quiet and safe area. The issue was the lack of at least adequate housekeeping. Upon arrival, we were given a room with unclean bed sheets and old food in the refrigerator. We were then moved to another room. However, during our 5 day stay, housekeeping kept missing doing anything . Had to ask for tissue paper and only received 1 roll at a time. The garbage was never picked up even when discussing the issue with the front desk.

Not for a weekend getaway but a place to sleep

This hotel was very promising with the pictures they had posted and even with the front lobby. It took a turn when we walked to the door at the other end of the hotel. It was kind of like we were entering a different place with major motel vibes. The door was covered in webs and bugs. The entrance/ stairwell hallway was dirty around the floor and walls. As we entered the hotel there was a distinct smell, mostly of old carpet. The room was ok but was dirty on the floor, just looked like missed vacuuming. The bathroom definitely needs some updates with the discolored mirror and broken counter top. Otherwise it was clean! The beds were made up and the pillows were comfy. Overall not what we were looking for a weekend getaway but I’d stay there if it was just a place to sleep while passing through.

The building is outdated, my room wasn't cleaned appropriately (found used bandaid on the floor), had a couple yelling at each other the whole first night of my stay and the second night our Neighbors dog wouldn't stop barking... got me wondering if that's why is called barkers Island? I did enjoy the eatery but outside of that my stay was underwhelming.
