No issues with the property itself. Our room was clean and quiet. Staff at reception, dining and bar area were pleasant. We chose this venue for its proximity to the Capitol Theatre and easy walking access to transport connections at Central. Unfortunately, the location at the Haymarket end of George Street has long been a grungy area of the city with the presence of homeless people on the street and the litter left by passing revellers.

Great location, good value
Much better than I expected and very pleased with the early availability of my room, friendliness of all staff, good breakfast offer in the restaurant and a busy public bar downstairs. Lovely old-world feel in the downstairs lobby area. I chose a small room with no housekeeping, but it was more than comfortable with a spacious bathroom and the ability to replenish items from reception. Two lifts meant a speedy ride (I was on 6th floor) and very quiet (a request). Also had dinner in the restaurant one of the evenings and will consider a return on my next trip to Sydney. Superbly located about a 7-minute walk from Central Station, plus a tram stop across the street.

Bathroom was full of tiny flies, all over the vanity, shower, floor and walls. Bedroom had a couple as well. I ended up getting rid of around 30 of them myself. They have a clear problem with this as I also noticed in the bathrooms of the lobby downstairs. Other than that, bed was clean and comfortable. Aircon worked. It was nothing special but otherwise fine.

Paid the extra daily rate to have daily housekeeping but did not receive daily housekeeping. Most days, did not get toilet paper replenished. Had to either got down to reception and ask for toilet paper and cart it back to our room, or after the housekeeping staff had finished in our room - had to ask them in the corridor for toilet paper. Some days the beds were not made up - they just came in and emptied the 2 rubbish bins and replaced new towels in bathroom, but did not vacuum or make up beds., Used coffee cups were not cleaned.
