Great location right beside the train and shopping very clean. Good amenities and onsen.

We loved our stay in Kurashiki at Yoruya. It’s a small, intimate hotel located on the edge of the Bikan Historical Quarter, within quick walking distance yet slightly removed and quiet (at least when we were there). The service level and attention to detail were top notch. All the staff we encountered were courteous and helpful and made us immediately feel at home. Upon arrival, our bags were whisked from the taxi and we were offered a personal and attentive check-in. Our standard room was extremely comfortable, modern, clean and large. We were really impressed by the care and detail that went into the design of the hotel, from the conversion of a historic property to the layout, and the room amenities. It has a minimalist, clean design that didn’t feel cold, but calming and peaceful. Everything felt intentional. We were so glad that breakfast and dinner were included in our booking so we got to experience the exceptional multi-course dinner and delicious breakfast. Since it was a small open-concept kitchen, it was a pleasure watching the chefs and the pride they took in their craft. The dining experience was a highlight. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and wished we could have stayed another night at Yoruya and in this charming historic town. If you go, make sure you check out the Ohara Museum. We were astonished by the number of renowned artists represented.

This is my second stay and I had a wonderful time. The rooms are very comfortable and very spacious. I enjoyed the balcony in the evenings. Access to the local onsen was really wonderful. The breakfasts are amazing, especially the different smoothies and juices. The location is convenient for visiting local islands. Staff are friendly and helpful.

This was my favourite stay when visiting Japan. Quite quirky and probably was an ‘adult’ hotel at some stage but the rooms are very well appointed. I had a massage chair and spa in my room even though these weren’t mentioned. (Not to mention a slot machine and adult vending machine haha!) Amazing amenities including hair straightener and curler (in addition to the hair drier). It was very clean and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was included even though it wasn’t advertised. They take your order the day before and deliver to your room at your chosen time. Just amazing. And super cheap. Had parking. It’s in an industrial area but is good for a night or two. I would 100% stay here again when in Japan just for the novelty and incredibly cheap price for what you get.

The room is fantastic and so is the location given that it’s right next to the train station, but this is NOT a hotel. You sign in using a machine and you can’t drop your luggage in advance, or leave them there after which is frustrating when you’re arriving earlier. No human interaction at all, but the room is truly beautiful and it has an outdoor shower.

Amazing hotel. So eager to please. All the right services. Will visit again.

The entire hotel feels worn and in need of an update. The area along the canal is nice enough and I felt safe at night, just wish I had chosen a better hotel.
