My room was spacious but dark although that was not an issue as I came in to unwind and didn't want bright lights. The bed was fantastic, just like mine at home, so I slept really well. I think it helped that the old style wooden window shutters closed tightly each night so there were no chinks of light even if the sun was rising.
I lazed by the pool for a few hours each day when the weather permitted and was surprised by how quiet and calm it was despite the roads surrounding us.
Breakfast was plentiful and I also had a omelettes made to order a few times. I really enjoyed the carrot or beetroot juice options instead of the usual orange or apple. The evening meal I had was a feast and it was great to see Cataplana for 1 instead of the usual 2 minimum.
I think the true test of the hotel though was on the Thursday as the weather was miserable. The hotel passed with flying colours as I chilled easily in the alcoves and courtyard, reading my books, having coffee and lunch without a care in the world - a weather enforced detox from a hectic lifestyle until mid-afternoon when the weather broke and I went for a wander through town. (The goat's cheese tart was absolutely amazing as well!)
On that note, the courtyard, is a great space and it was normal to see breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks spill over into that area as there was ample space, tables and seating.
