Booked two nights as a birthday treat, was over a bank holiday, on checking in it was obvious it was very popular for Sunday lunch and filled to capacity with not enough staff. Tables full of empty dirty plates and glasses. Had an evening meal the following evening and over an hour’s wait after ordering, meal was poorly presented and expected more for the price. Plumbing in room was faulty, toilet didn’t flush properly and shower wouldn’t turn off easily, clearly a fault with plumbing. Property could do with a lick of paint.
A lovely stay in a beautiful location. The food was good and the staff were friendly. We loved sitting in the garden looking over the river!

Fisherman’s cot
We had a room in the attic very different as a beam through middle of room and slanting eves in room and bathroom.
Did not suit us as we had to keep ducking and walk bent a lot of time. Showering was hard as was over a bath and very little space to stand under shower due to sloping roof.
It was very quiet right by the river.
Bed was very comfy and plenty of pillows.
Needed a curtain as well as the net curtain by the emergency door as outside light on all night so a bit bright in the room.
Breakfast was lovely. All freshly cooked.
I would stay here again but we would be wary what room it was in.
Fantastic stay (3rd time). Room was spacious and in a quiet area. Beer garden was great with a picturesque view of the River Exe. Evening meal of steak was good, Lager a good price and the staff were brilliant throughout our stay.
Scenery was good. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was excellent. However, we had no outside light. there were no plugs in the basin or bath. We did tell a member of staff but nobody came to check. The outside partitions between each room were broken old fence panels. We had no window to open, only a patio door, which we did open but next door's dog came in and sat in the bath! There was no fridge nor air conditioning. At the front of our room there were steps with broken handrails. All the rubbish from the hotel was strewn across the car park.
Building was generally very tired and needs an upgrade.
We can't recommend you to our friends.
Lovely pub with a beautiful setting by the river. Excellent evening meal and breakfast. The stand out is the attitude of the staff - the waitresses were brilliant and so friendly. We had a problem with the tv and two staff members spent a significantly period of time trying to resolve it, before offering an alternative room. Can’t fault their positivity and helpfulness.

We stayed at Fisherman’s Cot when we took our 3 and 1 year old to diggerland. We stayed for 2 week nights and had the best time. The staff were absolutely amazing with our little ones and even blew up balloons for them while we were all having dinner. Couldn’t thank Jo who was our waitress enough she was absolutely amazing and went above and beyond to make sure we were happy and had everything we needed.
I was very pleased to find EV charging point, some thing that should be advertised

The setting of the pub is beautiful, just on the river, but sadly no river walk as I was hoping.
Our room was spacious. The only problem was that the pub entrance is just by the bedroom window and some people were not very considerate, talking loudly.

A tired property but clean and quirky. Very friendly staff. Beautiful views
Lovely clean room, which overlooked the nearby Bickleigh bridge. The addition of a pedestal fan in the room, was much appreciated.
Very relaxing atmosphere, the breakfast (not included in our room rate) offered great choice, and was plentiful.
We booked a table at the restaurant twice during our stay. There was a good selection of typical pub grub available. The service was excellent, and the food was delicious. My personal favourite was a dessert of Lemon tart with ice cream - which I would definitely have again.
