We liked the colors and all of the outdoor spaces filled with plants and flowers. We liked the staff, the restaurant and the food. The rustic furniture in these spaces was a nice visual touch as well although some probably shouldn't be used for actual seating. We did not like our room. We paid for a room with a view which did have a little terrace but it looked out over the roof and onto a loud and busy street. You could also see the machinery on the rooftop and there were workers who climbed over the railing near our room daily to access these machines (checking and/or fixing them - we were not sure). We did not have hot water our first day and it was hit or miss after that. There was no TV which is actually ok but there's also no phone in the room, no hair dryer, iron or other basic essentials. Also, the outlet near the bathroom sink was a little blackened which was a worry. There was also a lot of peeling paint around the property including in our room. While Todos Santos is small, quiet and pleasant art town, we feel this property is totally over rated. Considering they only have 11 rooms, it seems it would be easy to put some effort and amenities into each one so they truly look and feel special. With all of the other hotel options close by, we would absolutely not stay at this property again.

Needs a big make up
This hotel indeed lives off legend since rooms are old and not maintained doors and window dont open bathroom falling apart and no phone in room. The pool was icy cold. The common areas are cheap and rather decrepit. AC leaking creating puddles in room. One good thing was breakfast (expensive and not included but good). Location good and nearby parking handy but unsupervised at night.

Hotel California
Hotel was centrally located and nicely decorated in traditional Mexican style. Food in the restaurant was excelent with good service. Waiters all spoke great English. Prices were a bit high compared to other restaurants in Todo Santos. Rooms are noisy due to location over the main town street. However if you went to Hotel California for peace and serenity you went for the wrong reasons.

Charming hotel..but be ready for some noise
The hotel is very conveniently located at the center of town. It is easy to walk to various restaurants and and boutiques in the area. The hotel is extremely charming, with colourful and eclectic decor and vibrant artwork. The pool was great, as we spent many hours each day there. Although small, the pool area provided a great place to relax. As we had our newborn son with us, we weren't always out in the town. The hotel had enough quiet areas for us to relax and read while our son slept in his stroller. I also have to thank the wonderful front desk staff - both Luis and Hugo were extremely helpful. Hugo also helping me deal with issues with the car rental company, so thank you to them both. However, the only complaint was the lack of soundproofing on the windows. Street noise easily comes through, especially during the time we visited, which coincided with 4 days of Day of the Dead festivities. Additionally, there was plumbing work going on behind our room, which was audible, until 12:30 am. Luckily, my wife used her phone app for some white noise. Normally it wouldn't be an issue, but we had our son with us, and we didn't want his sleep disturbed. But the owner, Debbie, was very gracious and apologetic when we told her the issues the next day.

Nice hotel, great location
First time staying at Hotel California. The location is great, central to town and a close drive to beaches. The service was good, the staff is very helpful & friendly. The room was comfortable but could use updating, The pool desperately needs to be retiled and cleaned.

Stay Away
After a long flight and drive, we arrived to hotel, booked months in advance. Shown to our room, directly over a generator. Asked to be moved, and were shown to a second room. Here, the manager told us that the room had no running water. In fact, the entire hotel was without running water. We asked if he could book us into either the Todos Santos Inn, or Guaycara - both similiarly priced and nearby. He said he would, and made the call for us. Not a Spanish speaker, I didn't know what he said, but he handed me directions, and off we went. Turns out, he booked us at Hotel Casa Tota and agreed to pay for our 3 night stay. Well, lucky Hotel California got a total money earner on us. The one night price that I paid for Hotel CA was twice what the nightly rate was at Hotel Casa Tota. Requested to be reimbursed, and both Expedia and Hotel California denied the request. I didn't want the money back for the other hotel, we stayed there, but shame on Hotel CA for ripping me off. They made a hundred and twenty bucks nightly on me for 3 nights and for that, SHAME SHAME SHAME

Mythical but overpriced
Mythical place, but very noisy street, and an overall low customer-perceived value. Do recommend to have a drink, but the night isn't worth the price.

Beautiful hotel in Todo Santos
We loved staying here. Gorgeous art and furniture all around. Magical setting! In town there are many jewelry and crafts shops. There's a small wine bodega in town that was very fun with a great small Mexican restaurant next-door with the best chili rellenos ever! There's an old Spanish mission. Great restaurants within walking distance. The food at the hotel was also impressive. Loved the nachos. Can't wait to go back.

Bucket list checked off. This is a great hotel.
This was our first stay at the Hotel California, yet it was our 10th time to visit Todos Santos. The town has had major construction and road improvements. The room was very quiet and clean. A few minor paint issues were noted in the bathroom, but we enjoyed our visit!

Funky but in a good way!
We loved the hotel. It was funky and charming at the same time. Our room was great and liked that there was no TV or phone. The swimming pool and outdoor gathering spaces were beautiful. The restaurant was very good. Despite being on the main street it wasn't noisy. We'll be back! Peggy Anne and Dan

Valentines Celebration
What a lovely place to celebrate Valentines Day with your spouse. The music was from our era & the decor was so suited to the reputation of Hotel California. Were many little alcoves where you could enjoy some quiet time other than in your room. The hotel staff were attentive & fun to visit with. Todo Santos was also charming.

Ambiance is so serene and perfect.
Ten years ago, I visited Todos Santos with friends for a few hours, we stopped into the bar to have a drink then went on to explore the town and ocean - but this place always stuck with me and I have been wanting to stay there. The opportunity finally arose to return to the Baja Peninsula and I told my husband we have to stay there at least one night. Well after that one night, I wanted to cancel the rest of our trip to LaPaz. I love this environment inside and out! Next visit, I will be staying only there. Kimberly

Interesting place, eccentric and lively.
We were excited to see and stay at this legendary hotel. It is beautifully decorated and has an interesting lay-out, with tunnels and stairs leading to patios or rooms. It seems to be the center of town with lots of visitors and shopping nearby, so a bit noisy. If you are looking for a quiet stay or traditional hotel, this is not for you. The food in the restaurant was good, service lacking and little pricey. Same goes for the store. Front desk was friendly, room was clean and nice. I agree it is haunted, because we had an experience with that. It was a fun stopover to La Paz.

Enjoyed my stay
I had spent a few days in La Paz and decided to do my last night at the Hotel California mostly because of the name. I was pleasantly surprised to find a beautiful older hotel with a very comfortable room, friendly people and a terrific breakfast the next morning. My room didn't have a TV, which was actually nice once I got used to the idea, so I don't take points off for that. The hotel has been around far longer than the song, so don't be confused. There were no mirrors on the ceilings, and no pink champagne on ice. I did check out in the morning, and I was able to leave in plenty of time to catch my flight out of San Juan Del Cabo.
