Wonderful hotel, spacious room for the Tokyo area. Clean, comfortable and the location is great for Senso-ji! There is a bit of a walk from the train stations, but it's very short.
Nowhere in the listing does it say hotel guests with tattoos cannot use the spa. The only reason I booked two nights with the hotel was for the on site spa, but I was denied service after checking into the hotel and learning they refuse to let anyone with tattoos into the spa area. All I was given was a “Sorry”, not even an attempt to offer me complimentary breakfast buffet or anything for this misrepresentation by their hotel listing, and after asking to then cancel the second night the hotel said that they would still charge me 50% of the room cost for the second night I would not even be there. Horrible service. Most uncomfortable pillows in Japan. Also, there is nothing in Asakusa that you cannot find far better versions of in many other parts of Japan. Onyado left me with a terrible end to an otherwise great trip.
This is a beautiful hotel! Staff were professional, if they didn't speak English it was easy to communicate with a translation app. The neighborhood is perfect, lots of shopping, restaurants, and bars nearby and a beautiful temple, and close to public transit.
Been to Tokyo 20+ times, first time staying in Asakusa hood. Bettei is off the main street which is slightly quiet after 8pm store closed. The property is exceptionally clean and high quality. Some staff speaks English not all. The room is spacious and tidy. Breakfast is the standard Dormy nice selection. Would recommend to most travellers in groups or solo, but for family with young kids might be a bit of walk since it’s far from stations. Food and shopping is all around. Asakusa has a traditional vibe while most tourist attractions are within a 15 mins walk/ride.
Loving the hotel much. Loved to stay in Japanese feel like home. Best onsen. Its very nice to relax at Onsen after walking all day. That Massage Chair is like magic doing it works. Breakfast is amazing!! Room is huge!!! Definately the best hotel. Even my kids asked if someday we can stay at here again. We got the great Tower view. It just the walk its a little bit much to go to station. But we dont mind at all with all the facilities
Incredible property very centrally location to Asakusa. It’s practically right next to Sensō-ji, and very close to tons of fun food and shopping. The onsen is phenomenal. The natural hot spring, sauna, and different temperature baths were wonderfully relaxing, as were the massage chairs and post-spa popsicles. I very much appreciated the Japanese decor and tatami mats throughout the property. I can’t wait to stay at another Onyado in Kyoto!
Loved our stay, rooms are super clean, comfortable, spacious. Breakfast was amazing and plentiful, and offered a wide variety of selections. Hotel staff were very friendly and provided excellent service. Onsen was spectacular. We would stay again
We loved this hotel. The onsen was great, the breakfast buffet was outstanding. Loved that it’s socks only in the hotel (so much cleaner). The only downside is it’s a bit far from the train if you’re carting luggage. But we will absolutely stay here next time we come to Tokyo.
Very hospitable and location wise was very convenient for food and travel
The onsen was a great plus along with the massage chairs and manga reading area
For Westerners this was a chance to have a more authentic Japanese-style hotel experience, with a no-shoes-inside policy and great onsen (hot spring baths) and Japanese breakfast. That can be different to get used to but enhanced the experience overall. It was overall a good experience. Room was attractive and clean. Bed placement in a corner wasn't great for a couple where we both need to get out. Great location.
One of our favorite stays of the long trip - the hotel is centered within the Asakusa restaurant and shopping area, making it super convenient as a place to relax and unwind (or drop off shopping to make room for more), and allows guests to enjoy a multitude of high quality hot spring water baths within Tokyo, next to beautiful Temple grounds. Really is a gem in a very busy area, and the staff were so kind and friendly as well. Food downstairs for breakfast was excellent, and the late-night free ramen was exceptional. Loved every aspect of this stay.
