The hotel is literally across the sumo hall. Its very convenient, walking distance to restaurants. It's 7 mins drive to Skytree Tower. I just hope the room has a dresser.

The room was nice and clean. A good size for Japan. They provided bottled water, which was nice. The bed was relatively comfortable but nothing special. Linens were clean. The downside is the location, as there was nothing to do in the immediate vicinity. Only an expensive steak restaurant above. The entrance to the hotel is also very lacklustre and the view was terrible.

I enjoyed my stay at THE GATE HOTEL RYOGOKU. The location by the river gave it a calm, scenic feel that set it apart from the busier parts of Tokyo. The staff were efficient and clearly well-trained — while not especially warm, their professionalism kept everything running smoothly. The real highlight was the restaurant. The food was outstanding, and I was especially glad I tried the breakfast one morning — it was worth it. Overall, a well-run hotel in a great setting, with excellent dining and a polished, professional atmosphere.

Stayed here for two nights. Excellent location for walking along the river. Sumo stadium and train depot with many restaurants across the street. Very nice hotel. Great rooftop terrace/lounge.

Great location but quality is slipping

Large spacious rooms in a great location. I stayed here a couple of years ago and loved it. However this time around I was a bit let down by the staff’s inability to problem solve effectively and the cleanliness of the room. The room was incredibly dusty due to the amount of dust on the air vents (which are right above the beds). You could see the dust in the air, it made me cough so much. When I requested for it to be cleaned the staff just couldn’t handle a simple request, the walked all over my hotel room in their shoes and got dust all over my bed in a poor attempt to clean the vent.

Perfect for quiet travel

Traveling for vacation and could not have picked a better spot. The VIEW was a standout favorite for us and the hotel was absolutely clean and beautiful. The location was also amazing, next to a beautiful park, the train station and SO MANY shops and restaurants. We stayed in 3 different sections of Tokyo and this was our favorite!!

Always a good stay at the Gate Hotel. Rooms are more spacious than typical hotel rooms in Tokyo. Located next to Sumida River and close to Ryogoku station. 20 minutes walk to Asakusa. Beds are comfortable and amenities are provided. Cleaning staff are polite. Only improvement is the ability to check in early, especially after a long flight!
