Terrific location, transportation and shopping nearby, mostly quiet, staff is very pleasant. Cleaners do a good job. Furniture is old and some in disrepair which is a pitty because it used to have old-world charm.

We liked that it was very affordable for Toronto. I was fairly clean (not a fan of carpets but I understand it's an old property). Staff was friendly and helpful, close to amenities. Only complaint was the website said there was an iron but there was not. Great programs preloaded on TV (Netflix,...). Would recommend and will stay there again!

Youth hostel quality at hotel [prices
No fridge or coffee service in the room, no access to front desk before 9 a.m., no hot water all day Saturday, burnt out lightbulbs in room, really sluggish wifi when it worked, etc. This place has to decide whether it's a youth hostel and then lower the prices to reflect that, or it has to bring it's service level up to that of a budget hotel and then charge the prices it currently charges. Will not be staying there again.

A few small hiccups, but overall a very nice hotel
This was a charming hotel. It was clean, comfortable, and a very short walk to the transit train station. Although the room had a coffee maker, electric kettle, and fridge, it did not have a microwave. The king bed was very comfortable, and the furnace worked great. The gas fireplace was an added bonus to this room. However, the boiler malfunctioned during my stay and there was no hot water for a full day. They did fix it promptly, but the shock of a cold shower without warning was problematic. This hotel is next to a pub, and near university fraternity houses, so it did get loud at night sometimes, but the noise was not so much to cause a major problem. I would stay here again.

The Madison Manor isn't fancy, but it's a perfectly serviceable place to stay (during the week, at least). The price for its central location is great, and check in is simple if you're arriving between 3 and 10. There's no on-site parking, but there's a Green P lot beside the subway station nearby.
