Basic, comfortable, clean accommodation

Pembroke Inn serviced our needs for a 1 nighter in Toronto after a long flight in from Europe. The entrance hall, kitchen area, stairs and landing, are not the most up to date, looking a little tired, but the staff were pleasant and helpful. The room was functional, nicely decorated and clean and the bed was very comfortable. In my opinion a good option for a couple of nights in Toronto, anything longer then consider paying a bit more to be closer to the sights.

The reviews that I read where a little misleading. The area around the property does not feel quite safe. The fact that the front desk staff is behind glass, is not particularly reassuring either. The property had no parking available so you were encouraged to park in the street.... Or to pay for parking garage, at least a block away... Finally, were awakened and by the noises made by people walking (jumping ?) on the floor above us.

It was fine, you get what you pay for. Tiny room, but the bed was comfy and the bathroom nice enough. Surrounding neighborhood was a tad rough.

We stayed 2 nights here. As older people we found the sloping steps dangerous and the ramp was slippery when wet. Only one staff member was helpful; the others almost surly. Coffee maker in room broken and was not replaced even though reported immediately on entry. Shower had no soap holder or dispenser! Room was not cleaned on second day, even small supply of towels not replaced. Kitchen area needed cleaning.

Even though the place was neat and tidy, the smell of the detergent used in cleaning was soo strong making it uneasy to be in the room. Also, the 200 dollar security deposit makes no sense btw. Then again, there was no heat making the room very cold to sleep in. Would highly not recommend
