Nice funky place, the staff is excellent and helpful and the jazz club features lots of good performers. Free coffee and toast are great in the morning, with a reasonably priced menu. I was on the second floor, right above the jazz club, but the music isn't too loud, ends relatively early, and I actually enjoyed listening through the floor. Great budget hotel.

Fine crash pad

I just needed a clean place to crash after long workdays and for that it was fine. Good for one person but two would have been cramped. Great location. No frills but clean.

Ok, this place is definitely old & a little beat & could use an upgrade. There r no phones in the rooms. My room faced Queen st & it was really loud . I was also right above the band & it was loud. On the other hand it was cheap & I felt safe & the staff were all nice. Plus the location is central.

I recommend :)

This is my second time in Rex Hotel. It's affordable, located in a great neighbourhood, personnel is always friendly and helpful. I was not these to listen to music which is located next to the hotel but foe those who like jazz, that's a plus. It's just that it's a bit loud when people enter in their room since it's a small hotel but it's OK if your plan is not to have a deep sleep 😊

Although rooms are dated, it is clean. If your looking for an affordable stay and arent fussy about rooms this is the place. Very simple space just a bed and sink in the room. Shared washroom and shower outside the room.

Just a bed for the night.

I needed a cheap room for the night and this one came out on top. I didn't read the full description about it being a shared bathroom but nonetheless it actually provided a bed for the night, which is Iall I desired! I arrived after the biggest Snow Storm in a few years and the building only has single glazed windows. An Electric Heater was provided, but the room was ice cold on arrival.

The music at the Jazz bar was great, as was the food service. Although there was no private washroom in my room, the communal shower was gorgeous. Having hooks for towels, or a towel bar, in the room would be helpful.
