Before starting this review we must make it clear that this is an Agritourismo stay.
That is a farm stay eating food grown on the farm or supplied locally, so by its very nature is not a luxury stay which suited us, we wanted to see the REAL Italy not the touristy coastal areas.
Our hosts were Alfredo and his wife Maria and his grown up daughter and two sons.
Alfredo spoke broken English, and his enthusiasm usually made sure he got understood!
Out room had a comfortable bed, small table & two chairs, and bedside shelves, quite basic with only one wardrobe, so we kept some of our clothes in the suitcases.
There is an en suite shower & toilet, clean towels every two days.
Breakfast was tasty and consisted of toasted bread topped with fresh tomatoes/garlic/olive oil, cake or fruit tart, coffee or tea, bread, butter & delicious fig jam.
An evening meal could be ordered as required at a cost of 20 Euros per person including wine. These meals are home cooked by Maria, always delicious and a world away from the tourist fare at the coast.
The location is Trugnano in the Tramonti region about 6 miles north from Maori, from there you can drive along the coast east to Sorrento or west to Salerno and all the beautiful places in between.
Naples/Vesuvius/Pompei etc. are about an hour plus drive away.
We were made to feel very welcome and part of the family.
It's a real Italian experience without the bells & whistles which is exactly what we wanted.
