Convenient Location; Stunning View; Friendly Staff

We were able to check in early at 9:30 AM instead of waiting until 3 PM, which was a huge plus. The only trade-off was a lower-floor room with no standout view, but it was well worth it—we got a few extra hours of much-needed rest. Overall, a great experiece!

Breakfast buffet was superb. Room was comfortable, small and cozy, in typical Scandinavian fashion.Coffee and tea are available 24/7 at the lobby. Location made it easy to walk to downtown area, restaurants and meeting point of various tours. I would definitely go back to stay at this hotel.

Great location near the bus terminal and port, just a quick walk to the main pedestrian street. Wonderful breakfast in the morning. Great views from the room. My room was very comfortable.

Andy, the night shift concierge did his best to accomodate all our requests, he's been super kind and professional! We expected a bit more from the staff at the breakfast area, the vegan/vegetarian options were there but the signs were difficult to understand. Plenty of non-dairy options but no chance to prepare a cappuccino (or just hot milk) with soya/oat. Amazing peanut butter, though! Very elegant and comfortable rooms with a very nice view

Fantastic in every way.

Totally amazing hotel in every way - friendly service, really helpful for storing bags (before and after check in/out), amazing location right on the docks and by the bus station. Also the cable car shuttle bus goes from outside, as well as our whale tour. Everything is 'just along the road' or you might already be right by it! 7-11 stores, tourist information etc etc. We had a family room which happened to be on 11th floor. The view was amazing and we enjoyed just spending time in the room with a drink, looking out at the views. The beds were really comfy and the linen so good I considered buying some! My son was on a double sofa bed which he said was really comfortable too. I liked that there was an 'open divide' section where the TV was one side and desk on the other - it gave us privacy. We also had a table and 4 chairs, fridge (mini bar), kettle and coffee machine. Toiletries were in refillable canisters on the wall and the hotel is actively trying to reduce it's energy usage - they had their recent reduction achievements on the breakfast restaurant wall. Breakfast was huge and delicious. So much choice and everything was sparkling clean in the dining room. The times for breakfast were really good too - meaning you could have a bag to take away if before 7am, and sit down breakfast until 11am - perfect if you've had a late night aurora hunting. There are cheaper hotels, but I doubt you'd find better. Well worth the splurge.

This was my third stay at the Clarion Edge and my two previous stays were perfect. This stay was a disappointment largely due to the room choice. We were 3 adults sharing a family room. Whereas on earlier visits I had a lovely waterfront room on a high floor with stunning views across to the Arctic Cathedral and a view of the sky, this time I was on the second floor in a room that was overlooked by an office building and other buildings at close quarters that made us feel hemmed in. The view was terrible and quite frankly miserable. Added to this the third bed was a sofa bed which was very uncomfortable and miserable to sleep on. The rooms do not have telephones to call down to reception or for tour operators to contact you in emergencies or to check and confirm trips. This was an inconvenience to us on this trip for reasons that I won’t bore you with. To contact reception you have to call them on your own telephone or device, or go to reception in person. The breakfast buffet has scaled down a lot since my earlier visits but is still a rich and varied selection. The location is excellent for transfers, buses etc. Overall this hotel is excellent if you get the right room. The family room we took was very disappointing and it felt almost like a basement room due to the uninspiring view and the discomfort of the sofa bed. It felt dark and dingy. I hope not all the family rooms are like this as this would feel like a penalty on families. I hope this review is helpful.

Fantastic hotel, modern and very clean. Warm welcome when we arrived by Andy who was on the evening shift. He made us feel really welcome as he could see we were excited to arrive in beautiful tromso. Breakfasts provided lots of choice, good food, and the rooms were clean, comfortable and the beds were comfortable also. Amazing view of Tromso from our 11th floor window. The sky bar is a unique touch and is a relaxing place to enjoy a drink at the end of your day. Loved this hotel, everything about it.

SO DISAPPOINTING

Disappointing. Hotel in dire need of an upgrade . It’s very tatty and so not worth anywhere near the price per night in its current state. The rooms are small - but I do think they make that clear as the meterage is clearly marked. Do not go for anything under a superior or deluxe if you want any room at all. There is nowhere to put clothes - and yet they provide an iron and ironing board. Hilarious. We had a deluxe room and had to keep our clothes in the case. Not ideal when you tend to need bigger and more clothes because of the colder weather. The reception areas are dirty and unkempt- looks like the place is falling apart, The staff on reception are really good, but beware the breakfast staff/situation. Breakfast finishes at 10am ON THE DOT and a buzzer even goes off. The staff then LITERALLY start grabbing the food, plates, utensils - I watched a member of staff snatch a spoon out from under a guests nose. It’s ridiculous and RUDE. This is how it should work and works worldwide - no more seating of guests after 10am - those already in the breakfast room should be “allowed” to finish their breakfast - not have plates SNATCHED from under them. It was appalling behaviour from the staff. Such a shame this hotel doesn’t live up expectations and I advise anyone travelling to Tromso to book one of the other hotels on the dock. You may be able to hang your clothes up, or at least take them from the case and have breakfast in peace.

Beautiful hotel right on the waterfront. We had rooms with great view of the harbor and surrounding areas. The bathroom was adequately stocked with soap, shampoo, conditioner and lotion. There is a rooftop bar, with balcony. The best part was the extensive breakfast buffet.
