Very nice to see animals.
A bit far because a short cut to lake kushiro is blocked. Not sure when will the road open again.
Highly recommended if u like to see animals and sea clouds. In my trip the weather was cloudy and i wasnt able to see sea clouds up at the mountain which is just 15mins drive.
U can enjoy nice onsen here and have a short walk in the forest. We enjoy walking so much in the morning as its quiet and healing.
Food is not very surpisingly good. But its okay! We had shabu shabu at night and japanese style buffet in morning.
We would like to come again next time. Maybe in another season hoping to see animals and sea clouds next time.

Great food and nice baths!
We picked this hotel as we wanted to visit Akan National Park but didn't fancy the resort towns of Akanko Onsen and the other town (sorry, can't recall the name). This hotel appealed because of its relative isolation and if you have a car then you can drive to Akanko Onsen (about 1 hr) or wherever you want to be to go hiking etc. It wasn't quite as romantic and isolated as we'd imagined though - the front looks more like a Premier Inn (the photos are taken from the back which I have to admit does have a very lovely view of the woods). We also somehow imagined it was a small cosy place down a little track in the woods when in reality it's medium sized hotel at the end of medium sized road (but still in the woods). That said, it really grew on us after our initial disappointment as we pulled up outside. Staff were friendly, Japanese style room was very clean (although the little heaters do smell of petrol), it had a nice little communal area that you can chill out in, and the male and female onsen are great! Both include outdoor pools. And if you want to be together then you can book the private bath for an hour (which costs 2000 yen). The thing we really liked though was the food - really wonderful, Japanese food. We had breakfast and dinner included in our rate and looked. It rate seemed very expensive when I booked it but after experiencing the meals we thought it was well worth it, if you like traditional Japanese food (we do!). A cross between a hotel and a ryokan.
Excellent ryokon. Baths were the best we have been too. A but hard to find, ourphone gps took us over 40 miles in wrong direction. Mapquest got us to the location. The stay was excellent, all you could ask for. Did not want to take yakatta off.
