Overall quite nice. Bed was a touch soft for my liking, but I prefer quite firm, so probably would be perfect for others.

Just overall very old not so clean. Food is less than average. Very over priced. Paid over $500 a night and it is worth $200-$300 at the most. Avoid this place.

The stay at KAI Beppu was nothing short of amazing. It was my first time in Beppu, and staying at KAI made the experience truly memorable. The sea-view shakkei was beautiful and definitely the highlight. The room was well-sized, and the indoor onsen was a godsend. The kaiseki meals were also delicious, and choosing the half-board option was a great decision. The staff were incredibly helpful, friendly, and always smiling. I would definitely come back and explore more KAI and Hoshino Resorts properties. This stay has made me an even bigger Hoshino fan.

Hot sprong bath was amazing. Especially the private hot spring both "roten" and inhouse bath with variety of Hot Springs were easy to use and very relaxing. Free popsicles and ice cream service, free massage chair, and reading room with a lot of comic books werr also great. Air freshner using at public area sich as lobby and elevator was bad. I strongly suggest to change the Fragrance.

This place offers 4 private onsens that may be reserved for family which is unique, though there is an onsen tax of about 1200 yen. The staff were friendly and accommodating. One of the bidets in our room were not working unfortunately, but I’m sure if staff is notified, it could’ve gotten troubleshooted. The kaiseki dinner was filling and the breakfast was Japanese styled as well, if that is your cup of tea. Overall delightful and wonderful. A caveat is that it is located on a hill away from Beppu, so if you’re wanting to go explore the city, it is preferable to have a car, and they offer free parking. It is also walkable if needed. The view was also very nice.

A nice onsen - the public baths are really nice. Don’t bother with private bath as u need to fill up your tub. The bkfast and dinner were delicious and wide varieties. The room are spacious. The only complaint is our room has no bathing facilities- we had to use the public baths to shower! Not so convenient but thanks goodness our room is next to one of the baths.
