Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, amenities
Everything is good except for the emergency lighting which is very bright, directly over the bed, can't be switched off and comes on whenever lightning strikes near the city.
This means that lightning flashes inside the room as well as outside and makes it impossible to sleep through a storm, which happens a lot because it's an island.
Short blackouts happen sometimes for up to an hour and the lights come on for this too so you are kept awake at 3am waiting for the powergrid to be reset.
Conveniently located hotel in Izuhara, everything that you might want to do in Izuhara is walking distance from the hotel, close to some nice restaurants, close to isaribi park (with the foot onsen up in the hills nearby), close to some castle ruins, gardens, temples, shrines etc and the port (especially near the old port) was a short walk across the bridge and was very beautiful. Main detractor was the lack of options at breakfast - it was so bad that I ate a bit of rice and a tiny bit of japanese omelette on the first day and then skipped the next day altogether as just wasn't good.... even the drinks options were poor here. Bed and pillows were comfy. Staff were really friendly.
One-night stay at Toyoko Inn Izuhara was satisfactory: The staffs was warmly welcoming me when check-in. Everything was securely being managed, requiring door keys to get on lifts, infecting bathrobes and some hygiene products everyday. Free Japanese-style breakfast is also included, which was great. Especially I enjoyed the interior at the room, decorated with some Japanese & English books under subdued lights. The only thing that I was unhappy was some Korean elderly tourists talked loudly on the corridor so that I could hear the noises from outside. Except this, everything was perfect. Would like to stay here again when visiting Tsushima.
The brand new hotel is very clean and the price is reasonable. The hotel is a bit small just like other typical Japanese hotels. There is a mall in front of the hotel. The staffs at the front desk were rude and unhelpful. They need to be trained to become professional hoteliers.
