Great stay!

We had a wonderful stay at the Carlton. The location was on the grand canal, right across from the train station - which was perfect for a quick arrival with loaded bags. The hotel staff was very friendly and informative. The room was old fashion in a good sense of the way - very Beauty and The Beast decor. We did not eat at the restaurant but the breakfast spread looked amazing. Ask for a room overlooking the canal or courtyard. We walked and walked the city but you could easily hop on a water bus from across the hotel and be at the main sights within mins.

Really enjoyed our stay at the Carlton on the Grand Canal. The hotel has lovely decor throughout—stylish and full of quirky charm that gives it real character. It’s situated at the top end of the Grand Canal, so it is a bit of a walk from the main sights, but still very accessible with good transport links nearby. Overall, a great hotel with a lot of personality—would happily stay again!

The hotel is close to the train station. The door to the room did not close well so we heard a lot of noise from the hall. The room was warm and there was no air conditioning. We were told that the city didn't allow them to run AC in April. Opening the windows helped a little but mosquitoes entered the room and buzzed around our heads all night long. The bed was hard. The toilet was right next to a warm radiator.

Nice hotel, staff were not very friendly, very abrupt and not helpful on the front desk especially to my wife. Room was nice, cleaners were good, view wasn't good at all so check if you want a view otherwise it's the roof and Aircon pipes. Would use again just for the accessibility. Walking distance to the bus stop and tram stop. Really good for vaporetto access. Breakfast was just right. Crowded at 830 onwards so get as early breakfast as you can.

Very close to the train station, just be prepared to carry your bags up and down one of the largest bridges on the island, or pay someone 15 euros to do it for you. Everything is within easy walking distance (at most 1.3 miles).
