Perfect Location

Staff is amazing and very accommodating. Location is outstanding to go anywhere within Venice walking. Hotel is close to back waterway if using private water taxi to/from airport. Convenient to Tronchetto by water. Breakfast is phenomenal.

Wonderful boutique hotel in perfect location

We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful hotel just steps away from St. Mark’s. The location is perfect and easy to get to by water taxi and is surrounded by great restaurants. The staff are very friendly and attentive and the front desk staff take their jobs seriously. They also speak English perfectly and make everyone feel welcome.

This place was great. Super friendly staff who took our bags to our room, knew our room numbers every time we came back to the hotel (you have to leave your key at the desk when you go out) and answered any questions we had about the area. The rooms were clean, comfortable and charmingly decorated. Good bathrooms, showers and AC that worked really well. I wasn't excited about the idea of hotel breakfast, but it was actually a highlight. After so many bad hotel breakfasts while my girls were playing club ball this was a delight. How do they have better pancakes in a small Italian hotel than in every hotel in America? Besides pancakes they had wonderful pastries, fruit, cereal, yogurt, bacon, Italian cold cuts etc. The location is just 50 yards or so from Piazza San Marco and about a 12 minute walk to Rialto. Great location and close to the "bus stop". Highly recommended.

We received a wonderful friendly and professional welcome. Rooms were clean and tidied every day. Air conditioning was wonderful on hot days. Complimentary afternoon tea and breakfast! Lots of choice of food and catered with something for everyone. Scrumptious torta della nonna. Dining areas like old train carriages, really unusual. Answered all of our queries and helped us with directions to water taxi stops etc. 6 minutes walk from St Mark’s Square vaporetto stop. Positioned in the heart of Venice. We took water taxis to Murano and Burano, and a high speed train, using this as a base to travel to Lake Garda too. We would definitely stay again.

Great AC super cute

I adored the French Provencial furniture in the room. This was the last leg of our trip after visiting Rome and Florence and it was lovely. Great location next to grand canal. They had a nice breakfast and afternoon tea. It was clean and staff were friendly. The AC worked great and we were so thankful since we visited in the summer and it was extremely hot outside!

We had a great stay and would definitely return. The staff was excellent - very courteous and helpful. Breakfast was great with fresh and hot options. Our room had some age to it, but it was well kept and very clean - and if we wanted brand-new we wouldn't be staying in old Venice. Access to everything interesting in San Marco was steps away. Overall we were very happy with the Hotel Montecarlo and consider it a great value.

Excellent central location

We spent three days in this very well located hotel with an excellent breakfast. The night staff upon our arrival was particularly accommodating in the day staff arranged for the tickets we wanted. Major issue is the noise from the hallway that goes right under the door, which needs weatherstripping on all four edges. Also, the bathtub was very poorly designed to channel water into the floor rather than back to the drain.

We arrived at 11:00 pm, and the night reception was extremely unhelpful. There was a mix-up with our reservation, and he was unwilling to offer any solutions or alternatives. The room had bugs, the bathroom was in very poor condition, and both the room and the breakfast restaurant were badly in need of renovation.
