We stayed in the ohia room which had lovely high ceilings and a view of the gardens, also closest to the hot tub. The towel warmer was perfect for the damp climate. Staff was very friendly and having the restaurant onsite was a bonus. (We eat there even when we aren't staying there)

I love everything about this place.We had the most delicious meals in their restaurant during our Hawaii trip!The staff was very nice as well.I will definitely stay in this beautiful hotel again next time I visit Volcano National Park.

A not so hidden gem with a rustic plantation ambiance. Lush surroundings, great parking, friendly staff, convenient to Volcano National Park. The 1/2 mile loop trail behind the property was a fun morning picker-upper to get the day started. It’s a little quirky that the guest check-in is in the gift shop, very laid back but service is wonderful. The restaurant is top notch and the portions are reasonable for the price. No tv in room which we did miss after a hard hike at Volcano, but not a deal breaker. in room gas stove was a cozy plus. The only thing we wish was different is the shower. The bathroom was plenty big but the single stand in shower was tight. Did appreciate the towel warmer . The night air was filled with coqui whistlings but we got used to it. Highly recommend and would stay again.

Ideal retreat

Everything about this other-worldly location makes for a perfect rest day — charming room (hurray for NO TV), a beautiful and quiet location, and a lovely staff. The small gift shop is full of locally curated art and Hawaiiana.
