Limited on-site paid parking but the near by area allows overnight parking from 6pm to 8am. Then 240 min free parking during 8am to 6pm. No re-parking during the day after using your 240min free parking. Since we are out during the day, it worked for us. Most guests try to keep the kitchen clean but the kitchen can use a few improvements. Like…. Fixing the chipped shelves/counter top, providing a (window) squeegee to clean/wipe the wet stainless steel countertop . This would reduce the need of towel cleaning also. Add food scrap strainers to the sinks.

Absolutely fantastic. First, hats off to their staff for their outstanding hospitality. All my concerns/request were answered. Love their energy too. Second, place is convenient with all the attractions and eateries nearby! 10/10 Would come back again if staying in Wanaka.

Haka house is a very easy choice for financial savings with clean bedding. On the flip side, there is no monitoring of how the kitchen area is maintained during/after use. It’s obvious that the “children” are not monitored to be sure they clean up after themselves. I would expect an hostel to have some type of policy in place during busy kitchen hours. Every kitchen use required avoiding someone’s mess that was left behind.

Good location close to the main part of town. The water pressure was really poor and the heaters in our room and bathroom were also really poor. The shared areas were nice and the fireplace in both were great. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Overall probably pretty good for a hostel but still could be better.
