Ambiance was quaint and staff very welcoming. While knowing the hotel was old and expecting small rooms and amenities, the beds were in need of new everything, not comfortable and the halls and rooms long overdue for paint and updating. The restaurant is one of the best in the region, old style Italian and steaks, high service level which further made the hotel pale in comparison. There aren't many hotels in the area for competition, but that's no excuse for a lack of attention.

The physical plant left much to be desired. No closet, small room, no elevator and no safety bars in bath. Heat was inadequate, but front desk responded immediately with space heater. Front desk's friendliness and willingness to do everything he could to make our stay comfortable was extraordinary.

This is an old fashioned small hotel. The builfing and rooms awere built in 1939 but it has been updated very nicely. . The rooms are spotless. It is a great room for the price.

This hotel is almost 100 years. So there must be some history. The building was kept nicely with inviting appearance from outside . Location is convenient from walking distance from train station.There is huge park next to the hotel. Also there nice restaurants inside the hotel.

It has an old fashioned vibe and a two flight walk up is a possibilty. But the property is clean, kept with pride and delightfully laid back. Everything worked fine and the bed was just wonderful. We intend to come back again! Thank you!

When the bathroom light and fan came on, there was a distinct odor that smelled like smoke. Not acceptable. The plug outlets in the room were very old and the plugs for out devices kept slipping out of them. That does not work in the present day. The outlets need to be replaced. The toilet would not empty with one flush. It had to be flushed several times to be emptied.

Front desk staff was very friendly and helpful, as was bartender when I wanted to order food to take back to the room from the attached restaurant. The gnocchi contadina they serve has a delicious cognac sauce -- order bread too to enjoy all the sauce. It's nice and quiet around there so close to the shore. Room was clean. Furniture in this first-floor-wing room was old fashioned but fine. Overall, I think I preferred the second-floor room I had last time, even though the stairs to get up there were a little treacherous.

This hotel is located where the Jones Beach bike path begins. This convenience is the best part of the experience. It's a very clean, comfortable place in a lovely neighborhood.
