This place is absolutely overrated and not worth the money that you pay. You’re better off at the Hilton. Don’t forget to bring cash because the amount of tipping for a standard room is insane. Absolutely disappointed.

Having been a regular guest when this was formerly a Kimpton property (Palomar Hotel) I was disappointed to see a slow decline in the standards of decor, cleanliness and guest service - and all charged at a premium rate. The location remains great, the facilities and appearance of the rooms much in need of refurbishment.

Royalty is accurate at the Royal Sonesta
I was in town for homecoming weekend with my family and we stayed at The Royal Sonesta and it was absolutely lovely. The hotel is clean, the staff was professional and best of all it was centrally located. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Our room did not have functioning AC. The staff was helpful and called an engineer several times but we really should have just been moved to a new room, which we eventually were. The new room’s deadbolt lock did not work. Hair from previous occupant all over the shower. Not very clean or updated.
