I stayed here for 3 nights, paying around $300 per night, with an additional resort fee of $111.30. The extra fee wasn't really the issue; it's the lack of service that was disappointing. At this price point, I expected better. I was informed that as long as I didn’t put up a "Do Not Disturb" sign, my room would be cleaned. However, throughout my entire stay, I never put the sign out, yet my room was not cleaned even once.

The hotel amenities and location were good and approaching 5-star level. The things we did not like were the late turndown service (past 4pm for the days we were there) and the destination fee of USD37 per day.

We had a fabulous stay at The Royal Sonesta DC Capitol Hill - so much so that we ended up extending our stay (originally 10/8-10/11) an additional two nights (10/8-10/13). A HUGE thank you to everyone, especially Lisa, Desiree, and our other friend at the front desk with the awesome hair :-). In addition, a HUGE thank you to Ashanti, Marina, Barbara, J.P., Justin, and even JoJo - all of whom treated us like family (our ENTIRE time there). The ONLY person who treated us like crap was Alfredo. If not for him, our stay would have actually been an 11 out of 10. Someone talk to him, please, because everyone else there is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!

I always try to stay in nice affordable hotels that sometimes lead to disappointment but this was a very nice hotel that was worth every penny. I really enjoyed my stay in this room, the room felt modern with no carpet (which I enjoyed), the headboard was leather (easy to wipe), and the bathroom had a modern shower head with a handheld shower which was great. The only part I had a problem with was the shower door and floor did not connect well so no matter what I tried the floor got wet. I slept great in the bed also and everything felt clean. They also gave us a nice metal water bottle which was a nice souvenir. Our first night there was a mishap with the ceiling door towards the air condition unit but they came quick and fixed it. The staff was courteous and helpful. We arrived very late and hungry and the only option was the restaurant attached to the hotel, thankfully we loved the food. Our waiter was friendly and helped us pick food that tasted great, and at the end since we were celebrating my husband’s birthday he came with a candle on my husband’s dessert. The train is a 7 minute walk from the station which was very convenient. The walk to the Capital was a good distance, we did go prepared to walk. This is a hotel I would like to return to and I recommended.

The property was clean and the staff was very friendly. Although there were some discrepancies in the information provided by Expedia, the property’s website has the correct information. As a courtesy, we were allowed to checkout late due to a late flight. We would definitely stay here again.
