We stayed at the Sofitel DC for the Cherry Blossom Race weekend. Overall, the hotel itself is beautiful and well-maintained. Our double room was a perfect size and very comfortable — I truly loved the space. Check-in and check-out were smooth, although our room wasn’t ready after 3 PM, which slightly disrupted our plans. Thankfully, we were able to work around it. There were, however, a few disappointing aspects that affected the overall experience. At one point, the elevators were out of service, which was frustrating. Additionally, after our room was cleaned, our towels were not replaced and the bed was not made properly — small but important details that should not have been overlooked. One of the most disappointing moments was in the morning when I went to the restaurant downstairs for a coffee. Despite staff noticing us waiting, no one acknowledged or assisted us, and we ended up leaving without being served. This level of service was surprising and disappointing, especially from a brand like Sofitel, which carries a reputation for excellence. Given the price point and expectations associated with the Sofitel name, I expected a much more refined and attentive experience. I had considered staying at the Sofitel in Mexico City for an upcoming trip, but this experience has made me reconsider.
