Built in 1927 the hotel has history and elegance with a million dollar view! The evening presentations were informative and presented by staff dressed in traditional uniforms. The elevator is one of the oldest in Canada and cannot be operated independently by guests therefore a climb of 71 steps to get to our 5th floor room was required. The rooms are simple and a bit small, but that lake & mountain view made up for it. We would definitely stay again!

A unique experience ! No tv and no ac, tiny rooms, but TONS of charm & character. You can hear your neighbours (old walls & old doors), but there are earplugs provided so it was not a problem. The ambiance & the view are well worth a few inconveniences. High Tea was fantastic. Morning Coffee in the lobby, with the view, was the best. Real, old hotel keys for the doors !!

I have stayed at this hotel a number of times. Every other year I would have highly recommended it, but changes this year have completely altered the atmosphere of the hotel. The Prince of Wales is a historical site, and is worth staying at for that reason. There are no televisions in the rooms, so the center of activity was the area south of the lobby. In previous years this was a dynamic place, with family's playing games, people enjoying a coffee or drink in front of the large windows, visitors taking pictures. It was a meeting place and gave a welcoming, open feeling to the hotel. This year this area was blocked off. It was changed to a pay restaurant and lounge area. This changed the area to a sterile wasteland, completely altering the atmosphere of the hotel. There is also no other area in the hotel for paid guests to gather. I cannot recommend the hotel for this reason, and next year for my first road trip of the season I will be going elsewhere. Hopefully the hotel changes the area back to what it was before.

Its authentic heritage site experience however its not kid friendly. We opted for ugraded lake facing room but it felt extremely claustrophobic. There is no TV in room pr basic stuff like dryer. Due to the property being very old and on the hills, winds feels very noisy. Views are incredible. Food is decent but service is slow. All in all not a great option for people with familiar but if you are going for a technology free, quiet weekend its a good option.

Amazing place, wonderful stay! Absolutely loved our 2 nights at Prince of Wales. The staff go out of their way to be helpful and kind. Food and service in lounge and restaurant were top notch. Our room was small, but certainly adequate and we were only there to sleep. Too much to do and enjoy in Waterton with just 2 days there. Will be back and would recommend.

Very old Hotel with good and friendly unexperienced Staff,Breakfast Omlette was Cold and no Toast for Breakfast.(better places for Breakfast in Town) Never order an Expesso Coffee because all you get is an regular coffee, they have no clue how to make an expresso. Overall the View is amazing the Hotel is at best average.

Poor Service Experience

The service was extremely disappointing and did not match the high price. When we first arrived, we found a wood tick on the bed. To be fair, when we called the front desk, our bed linens were changed immediately, but this situation raised serious concerns about cleanliness. The next morning, the front desk asked if we were checking out, even though we had booked and checked in for two nights, the system only showed one. Lastly, our room was never cleaned during the day. After our first complaint, we were told housekeeping was still working. When we returned that night, the room was still untouched. We had to call again to get it cleaned, which was frustrating after a long day. Overall, the hotel looks great but the lack of basic service and attention to detail made for a very negative experience. We would not recommend staying at the hotel.
