The hotel is 100 years old and so charming. The property is well-maintained and clean. The rooms aren’t fancy - they are simple but clean, cozy, and comfortable. The views are breathtaking. We sat on the balcony in awe at the splendor of the mountains and waterfalls - it felt like a dream. The balcony wraps around the back of the hotel so it is a shared balcony but everyone respected each other’s privacy. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The breakfast is adequate: pastries, fruit, coffee, meats, boiled eggs, and cheese. We didn’t eat dinner there but it always smelled good. The bed was stiff. My husband liked it but I prefer something a little squishier. Overall, it is an enchanting place and we absolutely loved our stay. I would definitely return.
The view from the property was really spectacular! The dinners were delicious, and the breakfast buffet was the largest I’ve ever seen (also delicious). And Judith was very helpful and accommodating to me throughout my stay. Just a wonderful stay!
Beautiful view. Very comfortable room. Staff very friendly and eager to help. There is an elevator but you have to walk down a flight of stairs to get to the registration desk and dining room. If staying on 3rd floor you must take a flight of stairs to get from 2nd floor elevator to the 3 rd floor. Consider this if you have limited mobility. Would definitely stay here again. The view is magnificent.
I have never in my life seen anyone work as hard as the owner of this hotel (Judith). Our family really appreciated the hospitality extended to us!
kudos to the magnificent food served! You wouldn’t think that a mountain hotel would serve such elegant and sophisticated meals! Also…the spectacular views of the Eiger, Monk and Junfrau was something out of a dream! If you are considering a trip to Switzerland, go see Judith and experience the vacation of a lifetime!
We loved our stay at Bellevue Hotel! It is an easy walk from the train station and nestled back in a quiet area of town. The views from our balcony were beyond beautiful! Waking up every morning to the sunlight hitting the Lauterbrunnen valley was breathtaking. The staff were all very kind and attentive. The breakfast was very tasty as well. The only negative would be that the beds are little firm and not that comfortable, but that seems to be the case throughout much of Europe. Would definitely stay here again!
Very, very nice and friendly staff, great breakfasts, really good restaurant, fantastic view of the valley from the room.
It was a bit hot in the hotel room (outside temperature around 30C). As climate is changing and so high temperatures will be more and more common, it would be good to equip the rooms with ceiling fans (I don’t like AC) or at least provide some mobile fans upon guest’s request. Also, mosquito/insect net would be highly appreciated at least by the balcony door.
Apart from it, just great! Price is high but one pays for such a location.
Last minute booking that turned into a pleasant surprise. its a 125 years old boutique hotel in a a very good condition given its age. The owner & caretaker Judith is an excellent host. Just bear in mind Wengen is a free car village. the only way up there is through train.
