They overbooked the hotel and shipped me to a different hotel. Rather than staying in the four star hotel I booked and paid for, I was forced to stay in a one star hostel. Pure bait and switch fraud

Great out of the way spot
Great hotel, stayed for 2 days right after arriving in Germany, nice area and great views. Staff was great and very helpful and worked with us and our broken German. Both roads leading into the town of Wershofen can be a bit interesting as they are both barely 2 lanes wide and very curvy, but slow down and take your time and its ok, after all you’re on vacation.

sehr gutes vielfältiges Frühstücksbufett, Tolle Saunalandschaft, 2x Sauna,(85 Grad) 1x Dampfbad, 1 x Biosauna ( 60 Grad ) Kneipp - Wassertreten, Fuß-Wechselbäder. Leider hatten wir im Restorante mit dem Essen Pech.

Personal sehr höflich, leider zum Teil nicht sehr qualifiziert. Die öffentliche n Bereiche des Hotels sind sehr schön, die Küche außergewöhnlich gut. Schwimmbad und Sauna sehr schön, aber recht klein für die Anzahl der Gäste. Wir hatten das Economy Zimmer gebucht. Definitiv keine 4 Sterne wert. Recht dunkel, älter, Bett ausreichend, Kopfkissen schlecht. Hätte ausgetauscht werden können, dürfte in einem solchen Haus aber gar nicht existieren.

Bin kurzfristig hier gelandet per Buchung mit Smartphone und war froh, hier ein Zimmer für 1 Nacht zur Kölner Messezeit zu bekommen im guten Preis-Leistungsverhältnis. V.a. haben mir die Freundlichkeit gefallen, die Ruhe, die Umgebung, auch die Kombination 'modern' und 'gediegen'. Es ist immer wieder positiv spürbar, wenn ein Hotel persönlich bzw. von einer Familie geführt wird. Ich kann sehr gut verstehen, dass (Kurz-)Urlauber aus dem Rheinland, Belgien, Niederlande etc. hier eine Auszeit machen. Und Ziele für Ausflüge gibt es auch genug. Der Tag kann schon mit einem kurzen Gang durch das eigene Wildgehege beginnen. Entsprechende Gerichte finden sich auf der Speisekarte. Für den Wellnessbereich hatte ich leider keine Zeit - aber das Angebot ist da.

Einen Besuch wert
Auf meiner Radreise Erft/Ahr/Rhein hatte ich mir das Hotel Kastenholz ausgesucht. Im Gegensatz zu den beiden anderen Hotels, in den ich übernachtet habe, wurde ich hier direkt freundlich begrüßt. Mir wurde ein Raum gezeigt, in dem ich mein Rad abstellen konnte, freundlich nach meiner Anreise gefragt und mir mein Hotelschlüssel mit dem Hinweis auf den Wellnessbereich ausgehändigt. Das Zimmer, das ich bekam, war ein großes Doppenzimmer mit Bad (Dusche). Auf meinem Bett lag ein Bademantel und im Schrank befanden sich Hausschuhe. Das kleine Hallenbad, das ich aufsuchte, war sauber und mit zwei Glasfronten versehen, so dass man einen tollen Blick hatte. Es lagen viele Handtücher aus, so dass man sich nach dem Schwimmen noch gemütlich auf den Liegen ausruhen konnte, von denen man einen tollen Blick hatte. Die Atmosphäre im Restaurant war sehr angenehm und das Essen im Restaurant von hoher Qualität. An der Rezeption erhielt man Futter für das Wild im Gehege am Haus, was noch einen schönen Abendspaziergang bescherte. Der einzige Nachteil meines Aufenthaltes war, dass mein Zimmer über der Küche lag, so dass laute Geräusche und Stimmen - beim zugegebener Maßen frühen Einschlafen - zu mir hinaufdrangen. Das war der einzige Nachteil. Trotzdem konnte ich gut schlafen. Zur morgendlichen Fitness standen ein Crosstrainer wie ein Ergometer bereit. Das Frühstück habe ich leider nicht genossen, da ich stattdessen früh weitergefahren bin. Ich bin aber überzeugt, dass es sehr gut war.
