The property is a construction site with no lifts. We were but on the 3rd floor and needed to carry our luggage up the stairs ourselves. Yet there were no information about the property being ubder renovation when booking.

Great old fashioned hotel. We had a newly refurbished room was excellent. The breakfast was great. Pity the lift isn’t working I do think people should be made aware of this and all the building work that is going on. For some elderly people this is a main concern For the two nights we were there we had a great time and were made very welcome

Construction site with no prior warning. Emailed me all week trying to get me to pay extra for an upgrade. Got there and offered a free upgrade to a unfurnished room..strange. emailed them prior to saying I had mobility issues. They put us on the highest floor without lifts working .More steps than the ones at the abbey Room was ok and breakfast was ok..

Disappointed.

Very pleasant, friendly staff, but we weren’t aware of the refurbishment that is underway in the hotel. We expected a bit of luxury from the photos on the hotels.com website, but they were totally irrelevant. We realise the hotel is greatly in need of refurbishment, as the bedrooms leave much to be desired. We also looked out of the bar and restaurant area windows at an enormous viewing wheel similar to the London Eye, which blocked the view of the sea. Apparently, the hotel didn’t even know about the arrival of this so called “tourist attraction”, so they weren’t happy with it either! We travelled from Somerset for this short break, but we wish we’d been better informed so that we could have chosen a different destination.

This hotel is embarking on a spectacular refurb. So this review is slightly mixed. It's clear the hotel was in major need of upgrading. This is happening whilst guests are in situ. So the first thing to say is there could be some small noise and disruption. This did not spoil my stay in the slightest though. The room we had was very large but also not one of the refurbished ones. It was very dated. But it was huge and it was comfortable and that's all I needed. The new signature Badger Bar is absolutely stunning. If they are continuing with that standard throughout the hotel, it will be sensational. The location is obviously amazing as it sits on the West Cliff overlooking the sea and Abbey. Very easy to walk to town. I am returning to the hotel this summer and will happily stay again after that. For anyone who isn't seeking perfection, book this hotel with absolute confidence. For the handful who seem to think they booked the Waldorf Astoria whenever they stay anywhere, I'd politely recommend leaving it 18 months until the hotel is fully completed

This hotel is under renovation so if you get a modernised room, it's probably a good value stay. But paying over £100 for a room that appears to have not been touched by a paint brush since the 1980s is a bit hard to swallow. Staff all great and the bar is lovely, and obviously great views and great location.

Dirty adult nappy in the wardrobe. I've been a cleaner, trying to turn over rooms quickly, but that really started us off on the wrong foot. No bathtub in the room, as we expected from photos on their website. Staff was brilliant and got us into another room straight away, no fuss. The hotel is undergoing much-needed renovation, so the lift was not functioning. We have mobility issues, so this was quite a frustration, but we managed since we were only staying one night. The location can't be beat if you are wanting to spend your time at the beach. View from our room was gorgeous and unobstructed. Breakfast was excellent. Probably won't stay here again though, honestly. The staff couldn't have been more accommodating, but the facilities aren't great.

Nice location , great view, nice bar, polite staff, Room v v scruffy, i know its being renovated, but for over £100 night, v poor, peeling paint and paper, stained walls Clenliness v poor, 2 glasses filthy on arrival, big cobwebs of main light, id expect to pay 60 a night for that quality, total rip off And tthe parking is laughable, i wont explain but if u dont pre book there v limited spaces, its a nightmare, bathroom v poor
